"Coldplay - Viva La Vida" sounds trancey?

I can't help but think that Coldplay's new song sounds VERY familiar like some trance song I've heard already. I just can't put my finger on which song, though. My gut wants to say Paul Van Dyk, but the only song I can think of that might sound close is "We Are Alive" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7sce-0zBv0
I don't know. Anyone know any trance songs that sound similar? |

If you're just talking about the chord progression, no trance song comes immediately to mind.
It sounds nothing like trance in general really... |

| He is right, the orchestral riff in the beginning does sound like a typical epic trancer or something (substitute the riff with a typical Paul Van Dyk saw), so i guess the beginning notes bring to mind Paul Van Dyke's "For An Angel" or something. |

I wanted to tell him that the simplicity of this riff is nowhere near the classical compositions of classical composers (in the end of the day its just a riff and not even a full melody!) but your analogy was way better...:whip: |
