Hey tranceadddicts,
I've been trying to achieve a particular sound lately, and I haven't quite gotten there so I kindly request your help. I've been wanting a hook in the mid/low-mid region and wanted it to have a very very crisp attack that makes it sound almost percussive. I want to use it as a "melodic percussive" element in a track I'm working on (i.e. melodic bongos? lol). I've been working with z3ta, and I'm sure there has to be a way to get this sound before I turn to effects/eq'ing. Or should I just turn to effects anyhow? I appreciate the advice! |

sounds like you need to spend more time with it... i'm not sure there is a forumula for anything really...
try another synth, not that z3 can't do it, but maybe you'd have better luck creating this with something else?
or you can always just get nexus, pay a bunch for it, go thru the presets, if you don't like the presets, you can always buy more presets from refx, and maybe after spending $600 you'll find exactly what you want*

*was a joke, don't buy nexus |

| well, i think if you need a better idea of what i mean...i'm sure a lot mainstream tracks out there have something similar to what i'm looking for. let me sift through them and see if i can find a sample. |

| all about the envelope i think, turn sustain to 0 and have a fast decay wand extreme fast attack |

you may also be looking for something with a kinda long release... i know pvd uses a lot of sounds with a quick attack, very little sustain and kinda a lot of release....
i still suggest just browsing thru presets on nexus, and if you don't find what you want, buying more packs from them, i mean, seriously
hahaha
