Annoyed with my MK5's

Nice, post didn't go through, let me simplify this then:

After taking a few months off from vinyl, I have re-connected my MK5's only to discover that, yes, the pitch adjustment is all screwed up. It doesn't let me do the fine adjusting anymore, the speed just jumps all over the place. At 0, it stutters around, every once in a while being good long enough to play at true 0 for a few minutes. Small changes of + or - 2 are not possible. Speeding it up to +8 slows it down even more!

This has happened to friends Technics decks before, and it's just so annoying. They really are great legendary decks when they're functioning properly, but son of a bitch why are they so fragile? I baby this stuff like most of you, these have rarely even left the home studio! In the other cases it's proven to be a faulty pitch control, motor/magnet, or loose wire. Both of my MK5's are struggling, so I suppose I'll have the fix them. These are only three years old, what am I paying for if they're not going to be reliable? I still love the vinyl, but damned if I'm not fed up with the tables.

There is most likely a few dust balls sitting on each of the fader tracks.

taking it (yeah, one of them proved to be just fine) in this week. we'll see what the problem is...
i got big pants
would shooting a jet of compressed air into the pitch slider help it?

ive actually noticed it the other day with my 1200mk2s.

If it does, you can see because the fader values would change on the screen. The advantage of digital technology ;)
