I have a problem with abuse of power.
i can't stand cops with that type of complex.
alot of people may disagree with me here but i'm going to say it anyway. cops are ing useless, the only safety you have is self-defense, if you wait on a cop to intervene and save your life... well then your life is most likely going to end.
the one and only time i've ever called the cops they never came. i woke up to the sound of someone's crowbar trying to get into our place through the back porch. i called the cops, waited as long as i could then finally went outside and confronted the person with a baseball bat. they never did even come. they're ing useless  sorry if my opinion upsets some people but that's just how i feel
narcotics officers raided the wrong house, a 92 year old woman was killed in self defense, then marijuana was planted in her house by the police so that they wouldn't get in trouble. Thank you, war on drugs!
Atlanta sued in police killing of 92-year-old
Woman's relatives act after two officers pleaded guilty to manslaughter
updated 1:46 p.m. ET, Wed., Nov. 21, 2007
ATLANTA - The family of a 92-year-old woman fatally shot during a botched drug raid has filed a lawsuit against the city and police on the first anniversary of the killing.
The State Court lawsuit was filed Wednesday by a niece of Kathryn Johnston, accusing them of racketeering, civil rights violations, assault, false imprisonment and negligence.
The suit targets the city, Police Chief Richard Pennington and five current and former police officers. The family is seeking unspecified damages.
Hezekiah Sistrunk Jr., an attorney for the niece, Sarah Dozier, said they had attempted to talk to the city about a settlement.
"That has been unsuccessful. That is why we are here today," he said at a news conference.
Plainclothes narcotics officers burst into Johnston's home Nov. 21, 2006, using a no-knock warrant. Johnston was killed during the raid in a hail of nearly 40 police gunshots.
Prosecutors said the officers obtained the warrant by falsely telling a judge that an informant confirmed drug dealing at the home. The informant later told federal investigators he was told by police to concoct the tale.
Officer allegedly planted marijuana
Prosecutors also said that one of the police officers planted three bags of marijuana in Johnston's home as part of a cover-up after no drugs were found.
The suit accuses officers who raided the home of violating Johnston's constitutional protections against unreasonable searches and seizures and the use of unreasonable and excessive deadly force. It cites witness tampering in its racketeering accusation.
Prosecutors charged three officers involved in the raid. Two of the officers, Jason R. Smith and Gregg Junnier, pleaded guilty to state manslaughter and federal civil rights charges. They have left the police force. A judge Tuesday ordered the two to turn themselves in by Dec. 3. No sentencing date has been set.
A third officer, Arthur Tesler, who is on administrative leave, faces charges of violating the oath of a public officer, making false statements and false imprisonment under color of legal process. His attorney has said Tesler expects to go to trial.
All three are named as defendants in the lawsuit.
"I am thankful my aunt's innocence has been proven," Dozier said in a statement read to reporters. "I am also deeply saddened that the city of Atlanta has refused to admit responsibility for unconstitutional practices."
Dozier was not present at the news conference.
No comment from city, police
Beverly Isom, a spokeswoman for Mayor Shirley Franklin, declined to comment on the suit, referring calls to an attorney for the city. The attorney, Jerry De Loach, declined to comment, saying the city had yet to be served with the lawsuit and wanted to review it before responding.
Officer Ronald Campbell, a spokesman for Atlanta police, said, "We are unable to comment on anything because of the legalities of it."

Well, that's mostly true. If you are in a life threatening siutation chances are no one but yourself is going to be able to help you. If someone is armed (with a gun), your safest bet is to surrender your wallet instead of having your testosterone possible getting you killed. Otherwise, if you're trained and depending on how polished your technique is, you can pretty much easily disarm any other weapon. It's not like there aren't good cops out there, but it seems like they're far and few between. I kind of feel bad for them as they have to deal with a fair bit of BS from their peers. All a cop has to do in order to not cross the line is honor their profession and responsibility towards society. Don't get me wrong, I respect cops who do their job and have a strong sense of the law. I can't stand people with that complex period, not just cops. But they especially piss me off when they act like trigger happy brutal s.

No, f*ck the rogue element which has taken it over from within.
It sounds to me like the Round Table Groups owe America's sheeple a great debt of thanks but good luck in them ever getting it.

Generally the best debates come from when people debate the side they don't beleive in.
shaolin_Z I'd like to see all of the stuff you can muster on why we need more authoritarian measures, including incedents where police are brutally assulted or save innocents through use of either tasers or non-violent means. You sould pay speciall attention to Kent State and other civil disturbances around the world where police of the day used bullets instead of tasers to fram your argument.
Q5echo - I'd like to see you post about all the nastyness that cops do, including using thier authority to gain sexual favours from civilians. And remember, the cleaner the victims the more points you score. Double that amount if you can get shots of cops beating down people in pin stripe suits.
A good crash course in "objectivity", for sure. :)

After 3 years of parliamentary style debating and public speaking, I can say with a lot of confidence that the only thing it ends up in your own head disappearing up your ass... the proportion of people who become more objective as a results is incredibly low. It just makes you an argumentative who knows how to rip other people's perspective to shreds in an interactive discourse, even if they're right and you know you're wrong, and frankly don't even believe in the position you're supporting... which is what it ends up being a lot of times, you don't get to pick weather you're opposition or proposition, the point is winning the debate not what is valid, correct, or optimal. Objectivity is the biggest farce the irrational human mind has thought of. There is no such thing as pure objectivity, your 'subconscious' always shapes your conscious higher cognitive functions, thoughts, and actions. Public speaking makes you a good propagandist for a live audience, parliamentary style debating makes you good at arguing and being condescending, that's really about it. That's one reason why you won't find me sucking Obama's dick like many others. I've used those same tools myself, and frankly, he's not even that good a public speaker in my opinion.
