I was wondering how I could download some movies and watch them on my dvd player.
Do I just burn it as a data dvd and what file format would be most widely accepted? |

| If you buy it from a legit source, you'll have access to all support you'll need :) |

| There are only 2 supported formats. VCD and SVCD. Almost all players will do VCD, but not so much with SVCD. SVCD is much better quality, as it is mpeg2. The same as DVD's. Just go to this site to find out if your dvd player can handle SVCDs and use this to get info on how to do all this. |

Most pirate movies are encoded XVID, a reverse-engineer of DIVX. You'll want to get a DVD player that is DIVX certified.
I believe the Xbox360 can do most Divx movies, while PS3 can do every Divx movie, and constantly updates itself to support the latest versions (including the XVID updates).
if you want the cheapest box available, try:
http://www.amazon.com/Philips-DVP64...r/dp/B000204SWE ($50-75)
or you have a video card, hook it up via a $5 s-video cable and $5 audio cables to put them through a speaker.
and yeah, just burn it at a Data CD. When you put it in your DVD player, it should come up with a file list and just select the movie file you want to play. |

Yeah I would avoid VCD or SVCD...the quality on those isn't so great. Do what SuspicionVandit suggests and use a DVD player that can handle DivX or XviD movies.
...or just convert the bloody movie to a DVD anyway! |

well i have noticed that if I download a music video for example it is some form of file I dont know what and if I burn it as data dvd then it works.
I downloaded return of the living dead and it was an avi but burned it as a video cd and it did not work.
the dvd player i have is cheap nothing divx certified or nothing of that nature but it plays dvds and mp3s and some computer files. just dont wanna burn a bunch of stuff and test it out to see if it works. thats why i am seeking the most widely accepted means of burning a movie. |

For music videos, just do VCD at the highest quality. Very few DVD players won't play them. It is a rare event that one doesn't. |
