| Did you just say that greed by corporations is unfathomable and unbelieveable? Because that is some other world you're thinking about not this one we live in. |

Do you believe that this will go well for the corporations? It would not. At least, not in this world. This is unfathomable and unbelievable. The internet is not analogous to cable, a pricing plan like this simply does not work for it. It would not ever be accepted by customers (think of the millions of people who would blink out of virtual existence, all the resources lost), which is why I'm sure that this isn't real.
A plan this terrible crosses the threshold of what's acceptable for even the more ignorant and apathetic internet users, so I am certain that the majority of internet users would fight it. |

I had never heard of this so I did a bit of research and I couldn't find any recent articles or clips about this. Is it really happening?
It sure sounds like something these ing corporations would do to drive up profit and increase their hold over the market, but I would envision some major upheavals if they tried to pawn this off on consumers any time soon. I, for one, would actively campaign against it.
So is it just BS or a botched idea from a few years ago that has leaked out again? |

i couldn't hear the audio, but i'll respond and hope i don't sound stupid.
first problem with this is that there are too many ISPs in the market to have all of them come together for a pricing strategy like that. Furthermore, the federal government has anti-competitive laws that prevent such things. If any ISPs did not follow this pricing strategy and stayed with the current strategy, then it would become the dominent player in the market and all ISPs would revert back. |

| Even if something like that were both legally and technologically feasible, it wouldn't take one of the 'major' websites long to realize that they could attract 99% of web traffic (and thereby increase their revenue exponentially) by simply adding a module which provided indirect access to the 'full' internet the way that cgi proxy websites already do. |
