Hey there everyone!

Here's a very short (radio length) song I put together for my music course, which specified that the track must be between 2:30 and 3:00.

Fabrik Europa - Metropolis

It's a nice melodic piece, hope people enjoy it!

for a guy who seems to spend his time helping everyone else, will give my 2 cents on this one :)

first i'm not 100% up to date with todays trance so my critiques might a bit dated.

1. kick & bass sound good
2. transition into the first breakdown was a bit weak, i personally spend a lot of time on those fills/fx
3. at first i thought the lead was a bit bright when u brough the cut off up, maybe just a small dip in freq at 10-16k (i'd just do a filter sweep and see where the harshness is)
4. i like the pad/harmony thing you have sweeping under it all, fits really well and sounds great

good start to a tune, creatively the drums could use some variation and the bassline could use a bridge but sound quality is very well done. gl with it

not really into trance but this wasnt bad - good production

Hey,

good wide mix. The sounds are well put into their place.
Nice pads during the breakdown.
Well then, I honestly dont like the lead at all, it sounds cheesy to me, maybe not just my taste.
Like Anthony said the overall harmony with the sweeping pads is awesome.

Definitely good track. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

I do need to spend some time analysing my lead sounds - my track "Sun Haze" also has a lead which ended up a bit "bitey"...I'm looking forward to the school break, I'll take a step back and see where all my productions this year so far have ended up, what I still need to work on. Your comments will help with this process. I have so much to learn, but I'm improving every day, so it's a fun journey.

Thanks for the comments on the composition too - I've been working a lot on this recently and have a massive amount of work scheduled in this area ahead of me still. Production quality is important, but ultimately what grabs me when I hear music is a fantastic melody, something which really sticks in my head. Once again, I have much to learn, but I'm aiming to improve each day.

Thanks again, I really appreciate you taking the time to listen!

Really slick production man, I'm impressed;) I'd maybe vary the bass pattern a little bit so its not so oompa, but thats all I can think of other than the already mentioned lead. Really love the rest of the production and overall melody and harmonies are excellent.

EDIT
On second thoughts, that bit at 1:30 where the clap comes in, I'd make it a breakbeat and lower the overall volume of the clap, thats the only other thing I'd say.

Thanks for the feedback Kit!

Yes, it's an oompa bassline, my last 5 tracks all had rolling basslines and I wanted to go with something more "oldschool"...the overall flavour of this track is fairly oldschool, nice simple production, nice melody.

Thanks also for the comment on the clap - someone picked me up on my clap on my "sun haze" track as well, so it's something I'm going to have to pay attention to.

School break's almost upon me, so I'll be spending a lot of time in the next while working on composition and sonic techniques. Hopefully it all pays off when I work on and post my next track.

Thanks again!

Fabian
