yes that track is by far one of his best. danny torrence closed the night with that when i brought him down here to boston last month. still incredible response.

by the way, who gives a about technical when it has real soul. do you go to a club to watch a dj mix, or to dance and or connect with the music??

I don't go to watch a DJ mix, because I am LISTENING to the DJ. When the DJ does a mix that makes my ears cringe, then it kinda takes my enjoyability out of the set. But like I said, in the previous post, he plays fun music...(like the Martinez Brothers...although they were playing a lot of minimal and tech at Opera...hmmmm)

I don't recall Ferrer mixing sloppy enough to make me cringe, but I'm usually too busy getting down on the dancefloor to his awesome tunes to really sit there and think about it.

Aren't you a DJ? You're telling me that you don't listen to other DJs mixing techniques?

And as I said for the third time, he is a fun DJ and his parties are always great.

But he's an example of way better producer than he is a DJ...
DiskHO
i'm a dj, and i don't give a about other djs mixing techniques. I would rather listen to a dj that plays all great tracks yet messes up a few times, rather than a dj who is spot on for the whole night yet plays boring records. I agree with skipper on this one.

finnally real music talk on this board!
anything dennis ferrer touches turns to gold
his album - "the world as i see it" is amazing. every single track is great and has been released on a single
+ my world as they remixed it also contains loads of great remixes of ferrers track
notably: sunshine jones remix of transitions (altho i still looove the original)
rodamall remix of church lady and the tiger stripes mix of p 2 da j

dennis ferrer is the man of the hour, that new track on objektivity is great, and the alibi remix, !!!!

as for cure and the cause, i play it 9 out of 10 times i play out lol. for the past 2 years.
someone PLEASE book him and get pat boogie to open.

I would love to see him at Stereo for a La Vie En Stereo night, but...

Even a bar hours set at Cherry would be sweet.

Late. ;)

He played at Therapy @ Jello bar 5 or 6 years ago, was OK, nothing spectacular.
DiskHO
alot can change in 5 or 6 years :)

it is rare that a producer can be so good at making both soulful house tracks and deep techy ones as well that also convey that much emotion. I would love to see him somewhere soon whether it be Montreal or Boston.

I am a DJ and as far as I am concerned, pleasing people on the dancefloor is more important than pleasing people standing around, chin stroking, listening for perfect mixes and noting even the smallest of mistakes so they can go online later and bitch about it on a message board.

Sure there is an element of technical ability that is required, but if that were the most important element of any DJ's success then no one would ever make it out of their bedrooms...

I saw him in Detroit last month and I hardly sat down once - THAT is the sign of a good DJ, not someone who mixes perfectly.

DiskHO
amen! can i get a hallelujah!
Luke Native
djing nowadays has nothing to do with mixing

its how well you can hit make a hit production :P
