looks majority of the people here do not have any religious belief which is a bit surprising but i guess the type of people on this board are mostly very open minded (hence they're musical taste compared to other average american).

personally i am not religious but to each their own. if religion serves a purpose that you benefit from then by all means use it for your benefit. i just wonder what the reaction will be of the general public and the government from this movie although atheists are at all time high in the country.

people who still cling to religious dogma in this day and age are either lying to themselves or willfully ignorant of the realities that the modern world has known since before they were born (even the founding fathers wrote convincingly about the absurdity of religion). since that time however this country has degenerated into a free-enterprise marketplace for spiritual fraud. a land where ancient astrological allegory is repackaged to fit different brands of christian money-collecting-for-political-power. it is even encouraged in government as politicians have known since the days of hitler how much easier it is to lead around a religious flock as opposed to a free-thinking society. it's been so easy to convince the american faithful that the bible is literally true because the vast majority don't know the context from which their beliefs originate, nor do they care. most are just in it to buy comfort, certainty, false hope, peace of mind. these people in front of a camera really make it too easy for maher to sell his comedy. i think george carlin, lewis black, christopher hitchens, richard dawkins and documentaries like zeitgeist used more insightfully damning approaches...

lewis black on the old testament:

george carlin - religion is bull:

zeitgeist - the greatest story every told:

richard dawkins' root of all evil:

richard dawkins' virus of faith:

richard dawkins' townhall - what if you're wrong?

penn & teller - bible is bull:

hitchens on maher - god is not great:

hitchens on the death of falwell:

more hitchens:

more by maher:

atheists are fools:
