You have got to be ing kidding me. Do I tell you that because you don't like something, you have to give me a long winded justification for it (like, oh I don't know, when someone starts a thread and only says "masterful")?
:conf:
I'll do you more of a courtesy than you did anyone else and give you one anyway: auto-aim works worse than it does in GTA4 and switching to manual is so labored and requires such a change in how you use both analog sticks that it might be the least intuitive combat system I have ever seen. Couple that with a slow camera that still obscures much of the screen in situations where full view is crucial, and you have one total camera system.
As far as gameplay goes, Metal Gear has NEVER, EVER been at the top of the espionage/sneaking games. Almost every single Splinter Cell released has far better controls and gameplay from the perspective of someone who actually wants control over their character. In MGS, the run/move mechanic, animation, and style have barely changed in ten years, and the limitation on how much of your environment you can interact with is utterly ing ridiculous.
I tried to be nice and give credit where credit is due, but if you're going to jump on me for being the slightest bit critical, well then you're welcome to join LionsLair and the rest of the MD gimps inhabiting this forum on the list of complete douchebags who are in total denial and are incapable of dealing with the fact that someone doesn't like what they do.
c0r Summary: Take differing opinions like an adult or off, chach.
Edit: And it still looks like Snake is holding in a serious dump every time he runs. |
Take differing opinions from rjt and get bitched at  all I asked you for was a reason you thought the camera and aiming was faulty. If you are using auto aim you are a bitch period. I haven't used that once playing this game (at act 4) haven't had to. Im glad I don't have any problems with the camera or aiming it just makes the game that much more enjoyable for me. Outside of this site talking to my friends and people who actually know about the mgs series none have brought up any issues with what you are talking about. And if you want a review go read ing ign im not gonna waste my time reviewing a game I had just started. I said what I thought it was at the time who cares?
Edit: he does have to take a massive dump |

So basically you and your friends are the end-all, be-all of gaming and if you don't have problems, then they just don't exist? And if you like something, you don't have to write anything more than "masterful", but if someone disagrees with you, they do?
:haha:
What a ing hypocrite with double standards you are - really thought I could expect better from you, but you really are just going all LionsLair here.
Oh well, jog on, fanboy, jog on.
Edit: It's also comically hilarious to me that you call me out for having a "bad" or "unsupported" opinion and then proceed to say that the only reason you got bitched at was because we had different opinions.
You got bitched at because you were acting like a twat, not because I disagree with you. |

| Couldnt take it anymore and I decided to trade in some games that I dont play anymore and grab this. I am very happy with what i have seen so far. I played for about 2 -3 hours and its great. The graphics are great, its about time that a ps3 game impresses me with the graphics (I was about to start saving for a gaming rig). Game play so far is realy fun and enjoyable. The only metal gear solid that i played is the 3rd one and this one has improved controls and its just an over all cool game. Ill admit that more then half of the game time so far has been cut scenes, but hey I like that about games so I dont mind at all. |

| For someone as smart as you, you really have little to zero reading comprehension. I never said me and my friends were the end all be all of the gaming world. You read everything and twist it in your own little way. My first post was not meant to be twatty at all you just took it that way as is to be expected from you. Either way this is turning into the same over and over, oh and what a suprise threads like that always seems to involve you :eyes: What a crazy coinscidence. |

Then why would you use it to justify yourself to me?
:conf:
I also absolutely love how the default response when people can't grasp their own idiocy is "You're twisting my words! That's not what I meant at all!" Such a pathetically transparent move it hurts.
The bottom line is you were being a hypocritical cunt and you got called out on it. Swallow your ing pride, learn how to speak clearly and without the classic "rolleyes" smiley, read a book on what "reading comprehension" actually means (rather than just tossing it out there because you think it sounds good), and move on with your day.
Edit: Or spend another hour of your day figuring out how you're going to respond to this post. Makes no difference to me either way. |

| You should have just started with that and spared yourself the embarrassment of having to defer to the "Theresa response." |

No, it isn't. It's bad, period - and several third person games have done it far, far better.
|
lol well, I wasn't going to be overly harsh, but yeah, it is pretty bad. IMO, it was a bit better in the previous incarnations, in only that traversing the pointer/cursor was not as twichy. At certain times, I found it really difficult to precisely co-ordinate the movements of the analog stick to the cursor. I use an inverted y-axis setup for specific views (camera) while using standard for some parts, as I find it easier. However, having to do that kind of makes it inconsistent. Even when I kept the same setup on all options, I found that in different views, tracking speed was different, thus inconsistent again.
In any case, coming from PCs to consoles, control, or lack thereof, is usually the first thing that jumps out at me. |

:haha: - That is certainly fair enough.
Still, what should be "surprise, surprise" is that I had almost entirely good things to say about MGS4!
Who would have thought, right? Of course, however, it's the one thing I choose to criticize that gets anyone's feathers ruffled, and nothing else I've posted.
And that, my friend, is what you should be giving your "oh and what a suprise threads like that always seems to involve you What a crazy coinsidence." to. Truly par for the course. |

Oh man, I can't even imagine. I don't play much on PC (I'm a Mac gimp), so I'm basically always calibrated towards console camera/aiming - and no matter what iteration of MGS I play, the number one thing that literally takes me hours to adjust to is combat.
Just really seems like the last thing on Kojima's mind as far as game design - which, as I said before, is fine because MGS is indeed all about story. I just wish it felt a bit more immersive than it does (something I think the Splinter Cell series has done impeccably well, even if the story is absolute compared to the MGS series). |
