Problem i have is that i need to give about a 10-14 db of gain on my trims in my line inputs for the motu ultralite from my jp-8080 synth.
Obviously different patches will have varying dynamics, but you would think that coming from a line out device into a line input of a sound interface such as the motu would have a healthy level without having to give gain on my trims?
do any of you guys need to give a trim boost to your synths etc.
im trying to figure out a good configuration to record a better and cleaner signal without adding to much noise.
Should i give a patch gain within my jp-8080 when needed? cause it seems subjective when and how to set proper recording level.
cheers guys
Your information will be greatly appriciated. |

I think you answered your own question yourself.....

Yes you should
I say set your kick at somewhere between -6 to -9 dB, and record your synths relative to the level of the kick (at least thats how I do it) |
