Hailing from the Russian federation, Andrey Zhavoronkov, known to the dance community as J-Soul, first came to the attention of DJs through some early recordings on Moonbeam Records only a year ago. In addition, many labels took note of the surprising young talent, one of these was Washington DC's Brandnewvibe Recordings. Quickly getting J-Soul on board for some remixes, Brandnewvibe also began to represent him to the many labels that soon came knocking. Although he had several tracks that found a niche audience, it wasn't until his remix of Emjae's Can You Handle It [Brandnewvibe] which thrust him into the global spotlight for good. Hitting the #15 spot on the Beatport OVERALL chart, and more impressively reaching and hanging on to the #2 spot in the Progressive House genre for over 2 weeks. Soon after, labels such as System Recordings, Curvve Recordings, Eelke Kleijn's Outside the Box, and Anjuna Deep all solicited work from J-Soul.
Despite the success, the world had yet to hear J-Soul's epic Mauna Kea EP [Brandnewvibe]. Consisting of 3 songs that together formed a musical narrative around the theme of Mauna Kea - the world's largest mountain, though much of it lies beneath the Ocean. The title track is an absolute progressive monster that twists and turns taking you from the summit into the ocean, followed by Challenger Deep, a much darker song that takes the listener deeper metaphorically and sonically, named after the deepest ocean trench in the world: Challenger Deep. Lastly, is the meditative Seasons in the Abyss which finishes off the EP with a musical closing that ties all three tracks together.
The release has garnered the support of many of the world's top DJs including Sander Kleinenberg, 16 Bit Lolitas, Hernan Cattaneo, Danny Howells & many more. Brandnewvibe Recordings is proud to present its 9th release, J-Soul's Mauna Kea EP.
As always, please stay tuned as we have several exciting releases in the pipeline!
Cheers,
Russ / Kaveh
