There are some awkward rules regarding their use in clubs in the UK.... I believe the US has even more awkward ones regarding use in clubs..

damm 185mW is sweet, very very powerfull. Steve, you can get a unit like the ones on the vid. Might run $900+ for one. Just google "DJ Green lasers" and you will find some good sites. You dont need a permit. Just dont point into the sky, people have been arrested for that, as the beams might hit a plane,etc...some sites even have Vids of the units in action. Again, look at the LED units, they are super nice also. You have enough land for a nice set up.

Of course this may be total gossip; but I have heard something about outdoor lasers needing permits from the FAA cause they'll the planes up. I dunno.

Make sure you put Rocky in a protective suit, Ed :D

Only if you point them in the sky at a plane. Mine will point to the pool or ground,etc....stupid people have been arrested for doing such a thing, also people pointing them at cars,etc...but you can visit me in jail

Let's see the vids, $900 aint too bad, the ones we've been looking at are around $3500.

Me and my roommates got a LanLing L2100 for our house, its a double tunnel green laser @ 25 watts each (2 lasers in one box). we got it for 300 bucks shipped from china off of ebay(shipping was like 90 bucks) and it is soooo worth it, its ing sweet, it has "over 100 laser patterns, with over 300 laser effects". (you get the point) It also has a microphone for sound sensing, as well as those standard DJ inputs (forgot what they are called, they are on the back of pioneer mkII and xone 92 mixers) to connect with controllers. It If you are in the market, i would highly recommend this one.

And I am pretty sure that the law in the US is that everytime a club puts on lasers (like when pacha has stellar design over) they have to go through the govt to get a permit, which is for that night only. i think. and any laser over 4.9kw is illegal unless you have a permit.

4.9KW?? that is probably input power to the laser, what matters is the output. I dont really know how much power the lasers in the clubs output, but 4.9KW sounds a lot.
Uncle ED
KW?? Im looking at mW KW power is massive power

I know the guys that do the lasers for the big shows in nyc.. A few notes:

1.. If it's outside, they have to register with the FAA
2.. Their lasers are in the 15-40 WATT range.. no milliwatts with the pro stuff
3.. The big laser uses something like 5-10 gallons of water a minute to keep it cool. Water in = standard cold temp, water out = hot enough to use for coffee.
4.. The laser setup used for Armin on Saturday actually scorched hair and punched a hole in the shirt of the guy who set it up..
5.. I'm not sure specifically about permits, but they do have to be licensed to run/buy/rent the equipment.

that's probably 4.9 watts.. though even that much is pretty crazy for a regular person to have..

4.9 KW would be in the weapons range..

And keep in mind this is all output power.. to get 5 watts out, you might need 50KW in at the wall socket..
