Ecler Evo5 (pg. 3)

The 92 I previously owned was made in the UK. The main pots for the filters and the EQ's were metal, but the other pots were plastic.

On my Xone 1D the push/rotary encoders are metal, all others are plastic.

I don't know how much it matters... my Rane has plastic pots for the EQ's, the metal ones on the main part of the mixer (2016) do feel better though.

I think Apple sucks but I was really talking about the 92. I never said the Chinese couldn't properly put together a mixer as I'm quite sure they can. I was simply stating that the newer ones are made there and that they may have plastic pots as someone above posted. For the record I don't have a problem with plastic pots and didn't even notice the ones on my mixer twist a little when you turn them WAY too hard until just a few minutes ago.

FYI, all the pots on ECLER mixers are genuine ALPS pots...which I think are what Rane and A&H uses.

Most people complain about the push/turn encoders on ECLER mixers, as the design allows for a bit of flex around the pot, since these pots in particular have no washer/spacer around them (all other pots do). On these pots, the knobs are oversized on the inside, to fit into the hole in the metal chassis, which act as the washer/spacer...but I gather they have lower tolerances, due to the movement of the encoders. But yeah, it would be nice if they were metal rather than plastic.

Still, like I said, I have NEVER seen one of these break or malfunction, so while they might not feel 100% solid, they arent likely to break down on you!

I dunno, though, I've seen some videos where the DJs have to throw their entire body into turning some knobs, though. :stongue:

Just out of curiosity, did you get an Ecler shirt with your mixer? I didn't get one when I got my Nuo4 a few years back. There were some nice stickers in the manual, though.
MACBOOK69
no shirt still just the stickers

The Nuos have awesome EQs! Linear, musical curve and huge knobs.

Far better than Pioneer or A&H EQs IMO.

What kind of improvements were made in launching the EVO series? I know you are their rep, so if you could provide some input it would be appreceated. I previously bought a Nuo4, and returned it less than 30 days after buying it due to quality. The sound quality in cue system is not up to par with either of those, other than the eq's having fat nobs, they were cheap feeling and flimsy, especially the hollow plastic. The plastic used on the mixer is flimsy and does not seat itself firmly, and overall it just feels like poor build quality. When you turn a nob it flexes to the left or right, unlike the Pioneer or A&H models. The overall sound quality is nice, but overall IMO the Nuo line is far from the same quality as an A&H or Pioneer.

So my question is, what was changed in the EVO line to make that statement?

I can tell that the mixer is a quality mixer, and it's getting there, but haven't put my hands on an EVO to see if it backs that claim up.
What I mean by the cue system is that is can be weak, especially when combining the mix in your headphones with what you have cued. The Pioneer's and A&H do a much better job of this and it's a much clearer sounding signal. I use that feature a lot, so it's probably why I noticed. Understand on the plastic pots, they just felt really flimsy on my previous Nuo 4. Sounds like a lot of improvement has been built in this go round.

Thanks for the input. I just sold my Xone:92 & CDJ's, I'm one of those guys that cycles my equipment every two years. I may try one of the new EVO's out this time. Still deciding. Sounds like a lot has improved.

This guy does a great job of explaining the exact same things I was talking about in his review:
