Question for DJ's in college (pg. 3)
View this Thread in Original format

college is hectic enough without having to worry about your gear getting stolen, even if you make it a point to lock your door anytime you go out, you have a roomate, and people make mistakes, don't let his mistake cost you an assload of equipment

even if you put it in a lockbox and think people won't with it, there is still a chance that people would just TAKE the lockbox... this is college, people do pretty grimey here

i just got into dj'ing this past year, which was my second year in the dorms. My dorm was the though with all trustworthy people, my door was never locked (unless a "visitor" was over) and we had lots of expensive . DEFINITELY bring your equipment, dont let worrying hold you back. like people said you can lock it up if youre worried about it, but itll be a great way to have some bangin parties and make some friends.

I think i am bringing my gear when i go away. I hope there is enough room. I don't have decks but i have my speakers 2 computers and 2 mixers. I will probably lose my mind without the stuff.

I brought my . It was fine. Can't play at parties with your gear sitting 1000 miles away.

I was wondering the same thing but I decided that I would just leave my gear at home. I'm only doing this because I live about 30 minutes away from where I live on campus. I plan on transferring out after a year though so I would imagine I would bring my gear.

I wasn't able to bring my 1200s, but I did manage to find space for my CDJs and 57SL + laptop. My roommate was my best friend, so I trusted him with my , never had any problems. I have an apartment now, though, with a separate room for all of my precious equipment. :) Dorms suck. Get an apartment.

Don't be that guy, and don't play any old house party you can - especially on your own equipment.

Use your headphones extensively to mix, be discreet about your roommate's sleeping habits, use spinning as motivation to get your homework done, as a reward for going to class, finishing papers, the like.

All of this = Graduating in four years one smart cookie who can play a heck of a set. Pay it forward . . . you won't regret a thing.

ususally when you get out of the dorms (if thats where your staying), once you get an apartment with your buddies...that'll be the best time to bring your gear with you

+1
