I browse Beatport by the genres I like and go through the samples. It takes a lot of time but it pays off, as that way you get to discover some really nice tunes :D

Random browsing. cdjshop.com is nice because I can listen to everything.

Absolutely right it takes a lot of time, but it's paid dividends for me insofar as the gems I've discovered are concerned.

What could take even more time, and is also something I don't get too involved in, are the "people who bought this also bought...' selections. It's just a perpetual hopping from one track to the next, and it can take a decent period of time to find your way back to where you first began, depending upon how far you went into it.

Anyway, aside from browsing through the genre tabs on Beatport, my other avenues of musical exploration are more or less similar to everyone else's:

Major mix compilations and artist albums.
Download site charts (artist and sales).
TA Charts
Radio broadcasts
Recommendations
Darkarbiter
1. Genre specific compilations... if the artist keeps turning up and I like all their tracks somethings going right.
2. DJ sets. If I hear an awesome track (or several awesome tracks by the same artist in various sets) and I see somewhere that their album has been getting good reviews, may as well go for it.
3. Reviews
4. P2P

Actually finding a reasonable amount of decent DNB has been very hard however.

i get sent hundreds of promos every week and i sort out the good stuff from the bad stuff.

that and the occasional set download on here.

When www.dancegrooves.com was up, I used to listen to all the sound clips to get ideas. If I liked it, most likely, I purchased it.

Tracklists from the DJ Promo forum.

dig dig dig and dig some more.

browse digital download sites, read artists bios and see if they have any aliases, check out labels based on artists/tracks i like, read blogs and music reviews, check out recommendations from friends, etc.

and read ASOT tracklists religiously. :gsmile:
