So what about regular rapists? I mean we're only giving them like 25 years, isn't that a slap on the wrist? |
And what do you know about life in prison? Are you typing away from a prison cell? I'm proud to say that I've never been incarcerated.
That 25 years was decided by a jury. Are you suggesting that the punishment doesn't fit the crime? Have you ever served on a jury? |

Enough to not call it something ridiculous like "a slap on the wrist"

Not in a capital case. I'm not suggesting anything, I'm pointing out inconsistencies that arise from you and others having the knee-jerk "OMG HE RAPED AN 8 YEAR OLD, BURN HIM!" reaction to this verdict. The court did not rule that we cannot punish child rapists. It didn't lower sentencing guidelines. It didn't say we can't hold them in maximum security prisons. It didn't say they should get TVs in their cells.
It said that imposing the death penalty as punishment for rape is unconstitutional, for the reasons listed in the majority ruling, reasons that, if you actually read them, make perfect sense. |

And back on the first page, I said:
| quote: | | To be sure, I'm not necessarily pro-death penalty for this, however I think I'm clear about whose side I take in this matter. I'm not one to defend heartless criminals. |
So what's your point? |

I have and you might have noticed that the sentence was in the form of a question directed towards you actually...
i.e. The question was not rhetorical nor meant to be sidestepped... |

Not saying that child rape is ok , as it is not by a long shot but its being overrated something cronic
for example an 80 year old woman was mugged ,raped and robbed all in her own home and it got a half page section in the paper
it was nothing compared to a 3/4 page report of a bus and tram enthusiast who had been reported as a peado for taking photos of a bus.
In my local paper the front page is about a bloke has been jailed for grooming a 13 year old
A guy who was murdered was relegated to a side section in both daily national and local press
So my theory is that there is a consipircy to cover up major stories and figures due to 2 failing governments in the US and UK and the perfect cover is a crime that dosnt happen as much as murder and focus public hate on that
The one who controls the press , controls the masses |

That by denying the death penalty in rape cases, you're not "defending heartless criminals" |

If you've thought about it then there is no need for me to explain it to you. |

I'm happy to support mandatory castration on top of any prison time, but the ACLU would be all over that as cruel and unusual. |

The same way it has been for every single child rape case in the past that has not ended in capital punishment. |

Well, I suppose technically that's right. As disgusting as child rape is, they didn't kill anyone. Besides, the death penalty is wrong full stop for any kind of crime... |
that....
the punishment should equal the crime.....if u commit murder, ur life should be taken....
personally id love to see child molesters be killed for what they do, they dont deserve to live, but i dont expect the governments to execute ppl over rape. |
