Yeah i agree. If this video were showed on national television with the more unedited killing part, i think many americans would like kill pakistany type people for being from Pakistan, like those people killed peral for being american/jewish, however, we do like in a civilized society. |

True but most people who see this video are likely to hate the people that did this and want to kill them. When this happens, how are these people any different then the people who killed Pearl? Then the terrorists have won, this is one of their hopes of people seeing the video, that they too will begin to hate. Hate ruins this world, and I think thats what the terrorists want. |

Well, i just saw the video, not as bad as i expected. There was only 3 or 4 seconds of his head being slashed off, but generally, it was probably edited.

You make it sound like it was hardly anything. Dude, you were watching a man die there...most likely a very painful death. Actually think about what you saw...it's not a movie. I'm saying this because I didn't think it was that bad until I thought about it, I had just watched a man being killed and it was completely real. |

Sorry if i made it sound like it was nothing. I can see it looked very painful and its pretty terrible to see it happen. Stuff like this does happen across the world you know, our western society is pretty censored, and for a good reason.
In your previous post about hate, you sound like yoda ;)
Anyways, i think im a little decensetized to this kinda stuff anyways. I watch too much Millenium ( a show on a while ago, until it got cancelled for being too violet and horrific), and CSI. |

Human life is a rather funny thing.
It is worth absolutely nothing, but sense that means we are worth absolutely nothing, human life means absolutely everything to us.
Hah...the REAL sad thing is that these desperate people think that they are fighting for a religious cause and that they will be rewarded in Heaven...
Religion is the true sickness, it plauges our society. (with the exception of Buddism, which at it's core is more of a way of life rather than a religion.) |

I like your thinking. ;)
There should be a name for people without religion, like me.
Theres this thing called existentialism. Kinda wierd, its all based on personal perspectives and ideas. I dont really like this either. |

Are you saying it technically means nothing? I don't get what you are saying here.
Anyway, human life is worth a lot. This is because humans are intelligent enough to realize this. If you look at animals for example, they think very little of life, they'll kill another of their kind and feel little remorse, it is quite different with humans. I can't see how you can say human life is worth absolutely nothing.
And religion doesn't plague our world! Sure, it causes wars to be fought but it also brings people together so they can pray for peace. I sincerely believe religion has brought more good to this world than bad. I'm not very religous myself btw and I still believe this. |

Disagree. Religion is not *the* cause of the pain in the world. Ignorance, hopelessness and plain evil are. Religion only provide psychos with legitimate reasons for doing their work.
Actually I think that religion is a very useful societal structure. It can give hope to those who have nothing for which to be cheerful, and it can impose restrictions on society that benefit the human race - e.g. marriage, the ten commandments, the obligation of muslims to give donations to those less well off than themselves and the buddists enticament to be good.
Btw. I'm not a religious person myself. |

VERY well said....
I think most religions are a way to live, that's the purpose of it...
religions, at least the ones i know of, are supposed to make life better....but people just totaly screw around with it and it's ideas.
people abuse it, and mis-interpret it.....
add that to the ignorance, greediness, and selfishness of human kind, then you get all kinds of messed-up people....which resulted in lots of conflict in the past...
it seems like were going back to that old thread about religion being the cause of war...
although i do agree with Davinox on this point "...the REAL sad thing is that these desperate people think that they are fighting for a religious cause and that they will be rewarded in Heaven... "
Religion is being abused, esp. for purposes of brainwashing.
@ tranceDJ
Sure, we all value human life, but face it, once someone dies, nobody will give a , other than his/her loved ones...
life goes on after that.
you have tons of people dying everyday, and for most senseless reasons... |

hmm speaking of this video.. did anyone see hardball on cnn last week? The controversy over Dan rather showing a few seconds of the video? Quite an interesting show.
the debate was over the video was basically centered over should we know what we are dealing with?
If we would have never seen the videos in the 40's of the nazi camps, would we have not thought they were around? though, at that time we were more close minded of the events of the rest of the world.
though on the other side in our day in time, with the media sending us so much information it seems [ or at least we think ] that we are well informed of our world events. or maybe we are only informed of the world events the media wants us to know?.. Sure the video makes us know who we are dealing with, but you think the family wants people seeing this video?
I think the most disturbing fact is that there were reports that when clips of this aired on news, kids [ they said kids on the news but i assume at least teenagers or older] phoned in to say that they wish they were there, and that they could be the one to kill him. |
