i dont think you need expensive gear to make great quality sounding music...the majority of producers dont have the greatest set ups yet still make it work.
so dont lose hope =) |

It's a compressor and a distortion unit in one, hence why they called it a distressor. Yes, it's great at emulating various analog compressors :) |

i have one... its awesome, I use it mainly for vocals, but works nicely on room mics as you can crank the gain right up and it doesnt clip...:cool: so you hear every little sound your mics are picking up. lush optical compression setting on it as well and 20:1 "nuke" limiting as its called on the box hehe
might have to try running some drums and bass from my tracks through it and see how they turn out :)
and back on topic... you dont need lots of expensive gear to make great sounding music.... but it helps! :rolleyes: |

No one mentioned sticking a dead mou5e into computer? That's the REAL secret ingredient to Deadmou5 sound. I suggest you find a live mouse, stick it into your computer, wait for it to die, profit. Any tracks on your HD at the time of mou5e's death will instantly turn into an overnight sensation, 100000% hype-proof pure gold.

For anyone out there that cares or doesn't know about this Distressor emulator, here is the link, and the best part, ITS FREE.
There are many oldschool emulations on here, and at first I doubted it, till I tested them and, now my tunes are sounding better than ever. Whether or not they are accurate emulations, they still sound great IMO.
