But according to a recent study in the journal Evolutionary Psychology, the 18- to 22-year-old set is sure about one thing: Booty can be used to their advantage. In the study, 20 percent of undergrads reported swapping sex for favors ranging from football tickets to swanky gifts.
While using sex to get what you want may be a bad thing in the context of box seats, promotions, and the deli-meat counter at Whole Foods, it can be a great thing when relegated to a committed relationship.
If your goal is a good-hearted one—ending a stupid fight that keeps escalating, getting her mind off of a stressful situation at the office, helping her to burn a couple hundred calories so she'll look better in a bikini—using sex as a bartering tool is more than okay, it's commendable.
The next time you want something that's mutually beneficial, but talking isn't getting you any closer to your goal, zip those lips and press them gently against her neck, over and over again until she starts to see the wisdom of your objective.
Just don't act like a stupid college kid when it's over and admit that your moves had an ulterior motive.
