Tiesto in DC - You Didn't Miss Much!

I went to "Club Ibiza" last night to hear Tiesto live.

All in all, a mediocre event. Tiesto was okay. (Just like ISOS7:Asia is just okay.) He didn't play enough of his older stuff. I kept on waiting for his remix of "Hide and Seek" by Imogen Heap but it was never played. I left at 2:45 AM, so perhaps he played it after I left?

So, a mediocre mix. I got the feeling Tiesto was really and truly there just to be there, get paid, and go. He never had much fun with the crowd. But the crowed deserved it. Talk about a bunch of posers who were there just to get smashed and high and didn't really care about how or where. Did any of them truly care about the genre? And if they were all over 21, call me Mickey Mouse!

Case in point, what was the deal with all those Asian freaks in the VIP section on the bottom floor? One of the Asian "call-girls" was -faced drunk, falling off the raised platform several times as she tried to dance, turn a trick, or both. The rest of the crew got pretty -faced too, a couple of the dudes really hurting by the end of the evening. I even got to see one of them vomit. Lovely.

I doubt I'll ever go a club in DC again as the crowds here just suck complete ass.

I saw ATB at the FUR Nightclub last December and that place was a complete cluster ! A ing disaster. We had to wait almost two hours to get our coats from the coat room and the power even went off!

At least the staff/management at Club Ibiza were much nicer and more professional than the idiots at FUR. Props especially to Terry who runs their security. Apart from the crowd, the club was fine. Though its location near New York and 1st Street NE practically puts it in the ghetto. And where in God's name was the taxi stand? I expected to leave that place to see a line of taxis, but instead the GF and I had to walk a few blocks and finally got a cab some 30 minutes later, spending a little too much time in a sketchy neighborhood.

BTW, my only other basis of comparison in the USA is the Eleven 50 club in Atlanta. Talk about a much nicer facility compared to FUR/Ibiza in DC. And the crowds at e50 were FAR more mature, there to enjoy the music as much as get high/drunk/smashed.

Though I will admit that Saturday night was my first clubbing experience in a LONG time where I was NOT offered or asked if had any "X".

To sum it up, if you missed Tiesto in DC, you didn't miss much!

WOW! Someone in your Wheaties.

I was there also. The warm up DJ was better then Tiesto. I give the night a 6/10.

Too bad you guys didn't go to the Sunday show. My boyfriend went both nights and I went on Sunday. He said that Sunday's set was better and that Tiesto was much more into it than Saturday. He was dancing like crazy in the DJ booth and was cheesin like a fool.

Did he ever play the Imogen Heap remix (ISOS 6, CD 1, Last track).
Ted Promo
sounds about par for the course with any Tijscrhrist show in the States.

No, he didn't which I am bummed about but it was still a good show nonetheless. He played it a lot on the EOL World Tour so he is probably trying to pull away from always playing it, put on a different show.

By all means avoid any big-names in D.C.

It has been this way in D.C. for some years now and it seems to only get worse every year. I haven't enjoyed myself at any clubs in D.C. when the big-names come around since 2003. So many -heads like to show up get drunk and start spilling alcohol and people pushing to get through which rude while I am dancing or drinking. Even with those bookings on Wednesdays and Thursdays it just doesn't help because the same drama occurs.

Eleven50 is no more, it remodeled and opened again as "Opera", now attracting crowds like you're describing in DC.
