Has the Internet killed the possibility of "underground" music? (pg. 7)

Actually I can think of one good "pop" remix. Plastician's version of Kosheen's "Guilty". Pretty nice.

Much better is usually buying something you're not completely sure of, and then gradually realizing it's much better than you thought or that it has a ing killer B-side you've never noticed.

That is also an awesome feeling!

Yes, there is a better feeling beatblog... it's being there in that room, hearing it for the first time and losing your to the tune!

You misunderstand.

There's nothing in the world I like better than a set full of tunes I don't know. All the top acts I've seen have played material completely new to me. I despise people who say "DJ was , I didn't know anything he played"

I'm talking about post gig trainspotting, tracking down the music AFTER hearing, not identifying it on the night. It's a great feeling after hours/days/weeks/months/years of research to finally get that tune!

That said, it's also a good feeling when you have a little track that you treat as your own, and you hear it played out for the first time, besides the fact that the cat's now out of the bag.

I think its a problem when music is judged on how "underground" it is, rather than its own merits. I realize that once a genre gains mainstream popularity it becomes flooded with tracks, however the good music is still there. Just a matter of finding it.

Underground music to me is when an artist makes music with no regard to society or current trends. Music like that will always be around.

no, that's just simply 'music'.

I must own a shovel.

As long as some tracks keep their release strictly to vinyl, some music will still be kept "underground."

Maybe so, but once more people discover it, the song is still the same. Why should someone's opinion of it be changed simply because it is no longer considered 'underground'?
