When he played with Radio Slave in Miami on tues night it was empty :(

yeah, he's definitely not the right dj for the miami crowd lol
the following here in his home town is not even that big
some people just can't get into it.
then again it is a monday night party
he really does his own thing, and you just have to respect it. it's something completely different from what deejaying has become
man i can't even describe the warm feeling when i walk in and hear those cavernous dub echoes, feel the chilled air, and smell the incense burning...instant smiles. the only party in the city where i can get my raw dub and dub techno fix (without the trendiness and distraction of some dubstep)
and he's alway plays great vintage disco, techno, electro, and generally sick records that i would never hear anywhere else with a sprinkling of well selected classics
sometimes they even serve jamaican food and rastafarians come out and speak out over the resonance
but you can really see how much he loves it when he plays. I think the only time I saw him unhappy was after WMC when he must have been exhausted, and the whole NYC scene who went to miami didn't want to go out that monday hehe

Great interview, I can see where he is coming from. She does come off pretentious but she was following what he was saying and told a relevant story towards what he was trying to get accross with his view on hardcore music knowledge and "musicians" versus having a great ear.
In the EDM genre having the most music knowledge in the world cant buy you an ear, you can go to music school for years and still make dance music. I would speculate a majority of EDM producers have more technology knowledge and minimal music knowledge. But they still manage to make great sounding music because the interface and equipment used to make EDM music is accessible, and allows whats in the head to be painted onto the canvas. Even if a vision is not in the head, the interface and equipment allows beautiful accidents to happen that only a great ear could discover and realise as something beautiful. This is why ARP usage is famous in EDM. I think taste and a great ear goes a longer way in making EDM music than knowledge of theory or harmony, especially with Techno.
