What was it like for you? I was such a sensitive, angsty bitch as a teenager, haha. |
So was I.
I think that probably 75% - 85% of teens are sensitive, angsty bitches for at least a year or two, and many for longer than that.
| quote: | | I remember how I would think that I was smarter than everybody and all my ideas were original and amazing. |
Just like me. I still think I'm pretty smart compared to most people, but I no longer delude myself into thinking that I have any great original ideas. If I do have good ideas, I generally picked up them up from someone who was smarter than I am.
| quote: | | When I was 14, I thought I would immediately become an adult at 18 and everything would change drastically. Wow, was I wrong. |
When I was fourteen, I didn't think very much about the future, being too caught up in angsty nonsense. A few years later at seventeen or eighteen, I thought that I would go off to college and then my life would just "coalesce" on its own without a whole lot of work on my part, and that I'd be spitting out great ideas left and right every day and being appreciated by people for the genius I thought I was.
LOL. :D
| quote: | | When I was a teen, I'd always think "Yeah, right" when adults would tell me "When you're older, you'll realize I'm right." I never believed them. Well, ... they were right. |
So true.
It seems inevitable that teens will try to establish what they see as "independence," when really most of the angst directed at their parents is just simple-minded rebellion for the sake of rebellion. I did it, and most of my friends did to some degree as well.
If I ever have kids and they act like angsty twits, I'll tell them: "Look, in ten years you're going to look back at what you're doing right now and know that you were an idiot. And you'll wish you'd listened to me."
And I'll be right. And they still won't listen. :haha: |

| I look at most teenagers now and think, jesus they have no ing clue... was I really like that too? I'm a completely different person now compared to 22. At 22 I was a lot different than 18. At 18 a lot different than 14. I guess once you pass 26 or so, the significant differences don't come so rapidly. If I met the 18 or 22 year old version of me now, I'd want to beat his ass. |

| I was an angsty immature little brat. I wish I could go back in time and punch my 15 year old self in the throat. |

Awesome. We could get together, save on some of the costs of time travel and beat up our past selves 2 on 1. |
