best place in the city to see the fireworks?

i'll be in NYC on holiday this weekend....where would you guys recommend going to see the fireworks at? my hotel is on 40th so i'm thinking of just going east till we hit the water but open to any and all suggestions.

South Street Seaport or somewhere on the east side of FDR Drive between 20th to 42nd Streets..
You can also go over to the other side of the river in queens to Water Taxi Beach but its 25 bucks
