So here's how it is... I've got two computers in my household, let's call them primary and secondary. They're connected in LAN. Primary computer has two network cards. One is used for connecting to Internet, other is used for LAN, obviously. Secondary computer connects to Internet via primary computer. Yesterday I cleaned the primary computer from the inside and installed a new fan. Also, I removed the power supply, opened it, cleaned it as well and put it back where it was. Ever since doing that primary computer doesn't recognize secondary computer in LAN. It says "network cable unplugged" no matter it's plugged in and the little light on netword card is on. No settings in Network Connections panel have been changed. Secondary computer doesn't show "network cable unplugged" message. What could it be?
c0r version: Computer won't register plugged in network cable, if you know the possible solution, read the whole post. |

| I'd try a few simple things like re-seating the NIC in question, or putting it in a different slot, before pursuing it further. |

I'll assume this is a Windows based PC. When all else fails, you can right click on the network connection icon on the system tray and click "repair". This will clear anything cached, and it MIGHT help restore the connection.
Routers are relatively cheap now, so why not just take the plunge and install a router? Then you can put everything on your own Class C subnet and be happy. :) |

| reinstall the drivers for your network card but first uninstall them and then restart and then reinstall |

| I unplugged the NIC, cleaned it and plugged it back in. Now it suddenly works again. |
