Josh Gabriel's last visit to Swerve was fun, though I was expecting more of G&D's classic trance productions and remixes. Then again, this was the first time I had seen Gabriel live, and I've never seen Dresden.

When it comes to Gabriel and Dresden, I've heard that the whole is much greater than the sum of its parts. Any truth to this? Moreover, I've been told that Dresden's currently spinning mostly techno, house, and electro -- rather than trance. This is slightly disappointing to me, if it's true. I might attend this event regardless -- maybe just so I can claim I've seen both Gabriel and Dresden. :P

I have to agree with Scott here. Their older stuff was choice stuff and they have declined a bit since then. Mid 2003 to Early 2006 was the highlight of G&D for me. IMHO, Josh is the better DJ and producer. He spins more progressive trance, trance, etc. and when I hear most of the Hits by G&D I can hear more of Josh's influence in there then Dave's! I have not heard much from Dave (Solo) in recent history but he was more of the breaks and Techno side when solo. It would be worth checking out for sure.

The beggining of their 2005 em was great, not to mention they have a couple of great remixes. I guess they arent thta bad after all :p

Mario - Eat a dick. :D

Scott = Ultimate fanboi of their remix of "On a High" by Duncan Shiek ;)

The split due to "creative differences" with Dave wanting to continue the typical "anthem" type remixes they were known for and Josh wanting to do more solo tech-ish productions. They both had their strengths and weaknesses but I can surely attest to some of the best times I've ever had with EDM was at their shows (yes, I know, I was the ultimate fanboi...re: interview with Mixmag and 3 shows with them in 6 days...). But alas...haven't caught either of them solo yet but Josh can definitely throw down some sick at an afterparty :)

By the way....hi everyone :)

Oh, and starting next week, I have a new job in Atlanta. w00t :)

Lament (Dub 4 Satoshi)
Beautiful Things (Gabriel & Dresden Unplugged Mix)
On A High (Love From Humboldt Vocal)
No One On Earth (Gabriel & Dresden)
Till There Was You (Gabriel & Dresden Mix)

thats about the only good stuff from them imo

All of those are bombs though, the satoshi track sounds more satoshi than them but its still good.

I remember jamming out to No One On Earth so man f'n times.

That tune was absolutely insane when it got released. Hearing the bassline in a club for the first time was better than sex :)

This! This is what I had hoped would happen at Swerve's recent Gabriel show.

Instead, he dropped a strange remix of Tracking Treasure Down. Still fun, though.

Where is the cheapest place to park near Swerve? Is it the parking garage next to it? And if so, it's 10 dollars right?

iammesol
Park inside Publix.
