What kind of industrial music? There is classic 80s industrial like Throbbing Gristle, Einsturzende Neubauten, Test Dept, Nocturnal Emissions,DAF, Liaisons Dangereuses there is industrial-EBM like Front-242, Cabaret Voltaire, Evil's Toy, Clock DVA, Project Pitchfork, Funker Vogt, VNV Nation, Kovenant, Front-Line Assembly, Wumpscut etc. there is powernoise like Noisex etc. there is the mor emainstream industrial-metal stuff like Ministry,Skinny Puppy (although these guys have done everything) Marilyn Manson, Rammstein, Nine Inch Nails?
Lol, seriously i don't know about any places that sell digital downloads of industrial, but it seems that here in Greece they love Industrial-EBM-electrogoth stuff since the following site was one of the very few forums i could find (and now that i think of it, in Greece every obscure genre was famous. It must be the only country with Israel that Psy-Trance was more famous than mainstream trance and the only country with Noreway that Black-Metal was more famous than other more mainstream forms of metal. I guess that it is a characteristic of some European countries).

Notice that a lot of modern EBM is nothing more than uplifting-trance-like music coupled with male gothic vocals and provocative subjects. :wtf:

Now 80s industrial, that was really an inderground movement. In a time of political turmoil, cold war etc. industrial was the expression of taboo, of the raw, of the instictive within the industrialised/ mechanised context of the 80s. It was the return of DADA through musical expression. I've red somewhere that all live appearances of industrial bands were more related to performing arts rather than typical live-shows. Skinny Puppy for example would appear in abandoned warehouses dressed as surgeons, slashing meat whilst a film about animal experimentation was presented towards the stage which was filled with smoke, whereas at the same time harsh vocodered voices and noises together with nightmatish monotonous synth-lines and distorted quitars (which didn't sound like playing any notes at all)were the soundtrack to this strange musical version of teatro grottesco. Sometimes industrial was associated with extreme subjects like S & M and fetish, fascism etc. but also with futurism
Ofcourse, today's EBM is nothing like the original harsh, musicless sound. As i mentioned before, today's EBM is more trance-like sweet cheesy melodies with goth vocals leading to something that sounds more like "Nazi-Trance" rather than EBM :wtf: (remember the neo-EBM-techno tune by Black Strobe "Nazi-Trance -Off"!) and crossovers with neo-synthpop are very common (although this movement rarely crosses the boundaries of Europe or even...Germany!)
Still there are some tunes that i somehow like, e.g. this one:
Wumpscut - "Die in Winter"
More like an industrial-goth ballad!

There are many more "upbeat" tunes though which are usually played in dark, underground, weird clubs...

it still is nowadays. its form is just different. in the 80s they simply called it industrial. today its role has been taken up by post-industrial, and in particular by power electronics. though much more agressive, it remains just as political today.
