good intro. digging that funky scratch layer. The transition from intro to the kick beat is not so good, something feels wrong there at 0:40. The massive woosh creates a lot of anticipation as if you were kicking in some huge energy at that point but when the beat starts theres a little bit of disappointment.
As the track builds up I can hear some good layering in the track. Again I miss a little bit of drive or groove. If you could somehow add some drums with a little shuffling or something that would make the track much more interesting, maybe you could also change the bass pattern.
also I think your hihat sounds can be replaced with better ones.
the overall mixing seemed pretty solid, every element has its place, I would suggest to get a bit more pressure into the track now.

I agree with your analysis. A bit more perc and pressure could spice up the track and give it more drive. Hi hat sample can be better too. I'm glad the mix sounds good on your end. This is not a finished song (is there ever one?? lol) and so there is always room to change things.
I checked out your material and I'm very impressed. Very complex stuff!! I'm very suprised at how young you are also. I hope you don't ever stop, you have a lot of talent and skill. |
