dunno bout the rest of the stuff but the email thing tends to be a server based problem

Well obviously you have had windows installed for a while. I would advise getting yourself a copy of windowsXp Pro, and reformating your hard drive, and installing that.

Otherwise sounds like you need a reformat and instal your current operating system. There are too many errors to fix. Unless you uninstal all the programs you are having probs with and reinstall them :)

Are you sure it's a virus ?

dunno...but if that was my pc

...would be time to backup data & format the drive(s)

clean reinstall of o/s & looking forward to lots of fun hours (about 6-8 on average) reinstalling apps & utils then adjusting preferences & settings to suit :(

hehehe...done this too many times...and everyone you just pray it's gonna be as long as possible before you need to do another :p

yeah...& if u're worried about virii...get a scanner ffs! and update it regularly :)

Find a friend to make you up a bootable anti-virus floppy.
Boot from that floppy and do a scan from A: drive...doesn't sound very good though...:(

If you are going to reinstall your OS, which i highly recommend for 9.x windows kernels... use a startup disk and fdisk your hd into several partitions

1.OS partition - about 3-5 gigs
2. Apps partition - 5 gigs, so when you reinstall, all your settings are still there
3. everything else partition - rest of your hd. for goodies like your music

Pork!

i would say that windows is screwed and needs a re install, back up all ya data (mp3's and uni/college/school work etc) and re formant and re install windows.

but would do the virus scan from the boot disk just in case, as i cant see why so many things could go wrong at once. you tried downloading any other anti virus software? wot os u using?

I get that too! I think I removed all viruses from my computer, but I still get those mails :whip:

heheheh...well that depends on how much hd space u have eh! :D:D:D

but yeah...good to have separate drives for some stuff...i don't bother with apps...seeing most of their settings are stored in registry anyway & will get lost with an erase/reformat :p

have a separate drive for games, seeing most of their settings are stored in the local folders...also a separate drive for mp3s & mpegs - hehe essential for me :)...and another drive for swap file to stop windows stuffing up the windows drive with fragments everywhere...and recently i made a cache drive for internet temp files and other temp files like winzip, acdsee thumbnails, outlook database and other crap like that

so currently...it's something like o/s: 10G, games: 15G, mp3s/mpegs: 74G, personal : 33G, swap drive: 1G, temp drive: 4G

:D:D:D

Well i have a 4gig just for 0S, then a crive folder on my 60 gig D drive. So when i reformat my small 4 gig i just delete the stuff in c drive coz it will need to be reinstalled. Everything else goes into my mp3 folder, etc :)

Also a small hd just for OS means it is really quick to format and reinstal. I managed to reformat and reinstal xp pro and have it setup in just under 2 hours on my ty comp at my dads. So it wont take long :)
