Problem with my setup - could it be my turntable?

Hello everyone,
I've had my 1200 MK2's since January using a Vestax PMC05PRO, and then recently I've been having a problem with the output. One of my turntables will only play out of one speaker, but the other table plays perfectly out of both speakers. I switched the tables so table 2 would be on channel 1 and vise versa, and the same table gave me the same output problem in that channel as it did when plugged into its original channel.
My buddy came over and let me borrow his Numark 2 channel mixer, and it was working perfectly, so I thought it was my mixer. Well, the minute he left, his mixer started doing the same thing my other mixer did, so I started to ponder if it was the mixer in the first place.
With this said, has anyone out there had this same or similar problem? I'd like to avoid taking it to the shop if possible, mainly because I'm broke. I'd like to see if I could somehow fix it myself, or at least know if it my turntable or mixer. Thanks in advance everyone.
Goin' crazy over here... :eyespop:

Sounds like a problem with your turntable dude.
Try cleaning your stylus... |

| I've had this problem, but mine turned out to be a mixer channel problem. How long have the Techs been playing? I've got a feeling the problem lies with your Techs. If this is the case, then better send it in. |

I've had that problem too! I noticed that one of the small cords on the cartride/headshell was loosen up (spelling?) so one of the cords didn't pick up the signal! Try fixing with the cords and check that they are all attached good!
Good luck!

Thanks for all the responses. I'm going to check the cartridge today and also do a little test by hooking the turntable directly into my receiver to see if that works. I'll keep you all posted.
Thanks again! |

| You possibly need to change your stylus. |

clean your contacts... where the headshell connects to the tonearm
and make sure all the connections are in proper working order |

| Found the problem. I had a very old stanton cartridge lying around that I popped into the turntable, and now it works just fine. Thanks everyone for all the help!!! |

| oh btw I wanted to say that you all were right about the cartridge being the problem, so thanks again! |

hmm.. yea sounds like the table
most probable problem area: headshell connections or the cartridge connections.
make sure the wires between the headshell mount and the cartridge are intact... and make sure the headshell is getting contact to the tonearm...
that's probably where the problem is.
