Just so you know I got the Shure SE110s from Future Shop for $112 including tax. I'll be returning those soon and trying out either the Sony's or the SCL-2 in that price range. So you could give the SE110s a shot and see for yourself if you like them or not. |
Personally I would stay away from Sony earbuds. I dont like anything they make along that line...unless we are talking about the Sony 7506s (studio monitors.. I use them for DJing, but they are great for just listening to music also)...but thats a completely different story and I would recommend those over and over again :p :p |

The Sony noise-cancelling in-ear headphones I had were great. Wish I still had them :( |

First of all, I can only hope that none of you still use the crappy stock earphones that come packaged with your mp3 player. I'm no audiophile but you'll know what I mean when you upgrade to a decent pair from what you thought were the best at first.
|
I don't even have an mp3 player....so the earphones are not a problem. |

| I found an old walkman the other day and was amazed at the size of it......its HUGE....I remember in grade 7 getting my first walkman and thinking this was the greatest thing because I could listen to the radio and tapes while on the bus. |

Are they still called E2cs?
I can't find them anywhere.
I was looking and found a place that has the SE210 for a decent price, so I might try those.
My friend here at work uses Shure, not shure (haha) what model, but i'll give them a test out later today and see what its like.
|
the SE210s are better ofcourse. If I had the budget for it, would've gone with those.
(make sure you clean the buds before testing your friend's :nervous: )

They are no longer called this. This was the model name when I got them. These got replaced with the SE110. The SE110 are identical except for the body. Shure just changed the cosmetic body of the earphone, but the internal makeup is the same as far as I know. |
No. The SE110 are the new mobile line designed for urban youth. The SCL2 are the replacement for the E2C's. The SE110 has a detachable cord, for more connection options, but the SCL2's have a straight through cord for studio use. The drivers are also different from the SE ans SCL lines. I got the black SCL2-k because it has a shorter cord than the clear versions. I loved my E2C's until a combination of cold weather, and abuse broke them. They sounded wonderfully clear, but the bass a bit lack for those of you who like booty shaking bass.
Just got my new pair of SCL2 (Ebay $95, duties included). Sure enough the same 'sound problems' as when I got my E2C's; as they sounded like . They take a bit of warming up and after a few albums they were pretty much broken in and sounded much clearer.

Not sure if you screwed up the terminology, because most noise canceling headphones sound like . Shure makes noise isolating headphones, which block sound rather than cancel it. Makes a huge difference. When I am on the street and have the music off, but the phones in, everything is nice and quite, works great for keeping the volume low and saves your hearing.
As Search & Rescue said, its all personal preference. I had read a few reviews about the Shures, and they were in a price range I liked, so I picked them up. I have been happy so I got another pair, as I was not willing to gamble for that price.
I'm surprised nobody is mentioning the Etymotic's as they were the first company with noise isolating phones, and they make great products. I know lots of people here have the ER-20's for ear plugs. |

Thanks for clearing that up...I guess I learned something new today. Luckily when my cord tore I was able to get the old line (e2c) as a brand new replacement, instead of the SCL2s. I also agree with the bass..does lack a bit. |

| Maybe its just me....but I can think of so many better ways to spend $100.00 then on earphones....but then again I typically only listen to music in the car, at home or at a club. |

It's just you. I used to say the same thing when I was 12, and my friends dad showed me a pair of studio monitors. But then I grew up and actually paid attention to what I as listening to, and cared about preserving my hearing.
Plus the fact is that most people listen to ty quality MP3's, in which case it does not matter what headphones you use. But if you listen to CDs, or high quality MP3's, it matters. |

I can vouch for the EP-630s. I had them, (passed down to my sister) and they are awesome.
Aaand, they're now available for only 12 bucks!

I wish I knew this before I bought mine last week.
Edit: BTW, the Creative EP-630 is the same thing as the Sennheiser CX300, which is why they sound so good. :p |
