| They should extend it to Irvine haha. $55 isnt too bad.. with gas prices being pretty much ~ that price anyways. |

there was some news last month that the railroad that owns the right to the rail lines would fight the approval of this. either way as cool as it is i doubt it will be running before 8-10 years.
i'd rather have a la-vegas one anyway :) |

| $55 is cheap. From western Japan (Fukuoka) to Tokyo on the bullet train, a one way trip is about 700 miles, 5 hours, and $200. |

I'm sure the cost will be much greater once this thing is completed. Gas will probably be 8 bucks a gallon by the time this train is up and running, inflation, cost overages... 200 will sound like a deal! |

| Can't they use those high powered magnets instead of fuel to get rid of gas all together? Maybe that would increase the rate of speed as well... the government could give incentives to the builders to get it done faster and cleaner |

maglev is the system being used from anaheim to vegas. it goes +350mph but i imagine it costs a load more, requires a straighter path, and is designed for point a to point b without so many stops. maybe if we had corporate interests on both sides of the rail, it would be an option... disney-google express? :gsmile: |
