Just wondering what you all think of him - his music, his livesets, his history of music in the scene.
I've known about Christopher Lawrence for years, know alot of people that love him...it's only been recently that I have gotten into his music, and I really do like it. Heard some of his really older stuff but like his more recent stuff really well too (Unfold, Gatecrasher Moscow). I hear he's a super guy in person and a killer DJ when he plays live. Just wondering what others think. |

even though i love some of the tunes he plays and would probably consider him closest to my dj style out of the big names, i don't think he's that great a dj. his sets often have trouble shifting out of third gear and his mixing leaves alot to be desired, not to mention his playlist rotation is ridiculously slow and he has a habit of playing the exact same set on multiple occasions
he was awful at summer sound system. biggest letdown of the event for me :(
but like i said before.. i love his musical style. it's trance, but tough, futuristic & edgy with shades of psychedelia. he just can't always put it to good use |

I enjoyed Gatecrasher moscow, though he did play a bit of that generic psyish stuff that was around at the time, got a bit boring. He is one of the DJs that plays the kind of trance that appeals to me though (harder, more energetic)
Also going back a few years Rush Hour is a great tune |

| Of the big DJs I'd say he's probably the most 'down to earth.' |

really? I quite enjoyed that set, well what i saw of it anyway. I hadn't seen him in ages before that though so probably wouldnt have noticed if he was playing a fairly standard set.
i agree with you about the music he plays, it is, for the most part, excellent. |

| One of the very few trance DJ's that is able to keep me entertained when seen live. Last seen him at Dance Valley some years ago and it was good. |

| CL is good when he plays hard trance or psy, but its when he plays electro. His radio show could be so good but it just sounds pants as it stands. |

his mixing was terrible :conf: i was standing right at the front by the speaker and the beats drifted on almost every transition... added to the fact his EQing was pretty gradual & bass heavy (and psy kickdrums make it even worse), it was pretty painful to listen to & caused the speakers to distort
there were some good tunes in there (paul mendez & zero 3 - into the light ) but alot of generic filler stuff too, which just seemed to stand out too much amongst the disjointed mixing. and he's been playing the jay selway mix of rasa lila in nearly every set for the past two years, time to move on!!
i still love his EM from 2004 though. that was fantastic |

to be fair, i was in no fit state to be overly critical of anything lol, and i was kinda wandering in and out of the tent, finding ppl etc so he didnt have my full attention.
edit: yes that paul mendez and zero 3 track was a highlight for me too :D |

| Saw cl couple weeks back in LA, he was great. His set was mostly trance and a little bit of psy trance. |
