don't know where you live, but rent and food are really expensive. i was thinking about moving out on my own, but i still have about 2 years of school left so it would probably be a failure. unfortunately, the best bet seems to be live with parents unless you have a few friends that would go in on a cheap apartment with you.

You have this dilema over pot? How hard is it not to smoke pot. Maybe you should focus on that, which seems to be your problem.

No, not smoking is easier than having to move out.

That's absurd - living somewhere else is anything but "really easy".

This will probably be a long read, so here goes...

Next year I'll be a senior in college. I live with my parents in the same town as the university. They pay for my cell phone and car.

Recently they caught me smoking pot, again. They're really hardcore about not smoking for some reason, they are vehemently against it. So now they're giving me two options: stay and not smoke anymore (and take weekly drug tests) and plan my "future carrer" with them, or leave and live by myself.

If I leave I'll bring my bike, I'll be able to get around town easily(they would take my car). I have a lot of places where I'd be able to crash if I choose to leave. I have about 600 bucks in cash on me. I would probably hop around for a bit, then find somewhere to live during the school year for cheap. (I've got a part time job ~600 a month) School for next year is paid for, so I have to stay in town somewhere (otherwise I would prob leave out of state).

If I stay at my house, its free rent. But I have to put up with my overbearing parents. But I will also have a free cell phone and car(and gas).

Either way I am graduating and moving out next year. So I figure why not just leave now. But im not sure.

So, leave or stay?

get a friend to provide you with clean urine and stay at home. the idea that you could support yourself on $600/month is ludicrous.

You see, this is actually good advice.

See, this is what I don't get is the massive amount of selfishness of some people. Family or not they probably put up with a fair bit of other crap as well, but you live under their roof for free and from the sounds of it, quite well looked after and there's plenty of people out trying to everything you are, much tougher than you without any assistance.

Here's the thing, while you're a dependant, they're responsible for you and if you end up in the can on some kind of drug charge you can basically just kiss goodbye to any kind of honest job as no employer is going to want you.
They'll possibly get dragged in as an accessory to any kind of illegal activity, probably get off but lets face it they're going to be your family for life and not find it remotely funny for the next however many years you have left together.
Its really not a big ask. It's just pot and once you've grown up (if you're over the age of 20 I suggest you punch yourself in the head for being a childish brat in the first place) you can spend the rest of your life as being some addled bell end on your own money, not theirs which is probably causing the most resentment.

"oh boo-hoo, they won't let me smoke pot"
Gee, ain't life just oh-so damn hard... poor rich kid going to run away from home with $600 in their pocket

Beat Blog
This thread is the stupidest thing ever.

Why would you give up a free car, food, phone and accomodation just so you could smoke pot?

That's like moving out of home purely so you can watch porn in the living room, i.e ING POINTLESS YOU BRAINLESS MORON.
