Ive never been, and am ready to book a flight up from LA. Ive got a place to stay in potrero hill at my friends house and all i need know is an itinerary.
So my questions are
when does it begin
when does it end
Ideally I get into town Thursday night and come back monday morning or so. that should give the full weekend experience right?
So far looking at Benny Bennassi Ruby Skye on saturday, Axwell at vessell thursday night |

The actual parade begins at 12PM Saturday > goes down Market st > and all the floats set up right in front of the Bill Graham Center and city hall (forget what the exact name of that square is called). The Festival then goes onto till about 8/9PM in the evening. YOU CANNOT MISS THIS! it's the best part.
As for parties: there are TONS of them! The Spundae/Skills AfterParty being the biggest > to all the other clubs also doing there own events.
You should be able to find parties throughout the weekend, starting from Thursday to Monday. |

Tips:
WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES! I cant tell you how many girls and guys I saw taking their shoes off in agony because they were walking all day in shoes that they thought that looked good, but didnt offer much support.
Bring & Wear Sunglasses.
Bring & Wear Sunblock. Even with it being a little cold out, you
still may chap some part of your body.
Bring & Wear Earplugs.
- Dont miss our float, and our party later at 1015. :D |

If you're going to make a day of it
- Bring a 2nd battery for your phone
- Pace your alcohol intake throughout the day and eat something |

| yup. all important tips. and don't forget to bring a bottle of your favorite alcohol and a bottle of water! and pacing yourself for an all day steady buzz is actually really fun. my lovefest drink of choice is a jager all day (yes, room temperature jager). or you can always go up a couple blocks to nearest corner store. it ends up being a marathon so all these little things make a difference. |

| the music starts before 12 at the staging ground on 2nd street where you'll find random tas scattered around. the parade itself starts moving down market street at noon. a lot of people make the mistake of missing the parade and showing up later at the festival grounds for whatever reason (a lot of times because they went too hard the night before at the preparties and slept in). that's a big mistake imo because the parade is a huge part of the the experience. the look of people's faces who don't know what's going on as a caravan of sick electronic beats passes them by on market is priceless. the parade ends at civic center plaza when the floats split left for hyde street and the people split right directly into the plaza. before you reach the plaza there will be volunteers collecting donations for the event. they ask for $10 to support the tens of thousands of dollars in city permits needed to make this event happen for free, and in return you'll get a sticker that shows you're a supporter and some sort of commemorative lovefest card with free beatport downloads. you can donate as much as you want, i just give a 20 and don't ask for change. the festival portion continues till 9pm. people start leaving before then because they get cold after sun down so if you want to make it to the end, you'll wanna dress in layers. a windbreaker and pants is all you'll need to fight the chilly wind really. you're allowed to bring backpacks so it shouldn't be a problem. the plaza has a big grassy field, which a lot of people like chilling on, but who knows if that'll still be there after newsom's organic garden campaign. food and alcohol is sold on the festival grounds so you don't need to pack anything, though a gatorade vodka does cut down on your expenses ;). every float will have an afterparty so it won't be a problem finding one you like afterwards. most afterparties will direct you to after-afterparties as well. in the past the last of the last of them end on monday morning, but hat's off to you if you can last that long! |

The Perfect Love Fest Day Agenda
Clone yourself. Drive and park close to Civic Center. Keep your clone in the car, Party out hard all day at the Parade, when it winds down around 7pm go back to car, open trunk.. wake up your clone and send clone to After Party at Bill Graham. Take nap in car. At 4am have clone come wake you up at the car and find a afterparty to chill with you and your clone exchanging stories of the day/night. |

haha, Since cloning is difficult and you're staying at a friend's in the city, and you're flying, forget about taking your car anywhere near Civic Center. I'm not really into the official afterparty. I would suggest you just do the parade, the lovefest, then just play it by ear. You'll see us at some point.
I've blacked out 2 years in a row during the lovefest and can't remember . :whip: Fun, fun, fun.....:nervous:
Don't trip....don't go spending a bunch of money on "official events". Just start looking at events a couple weeks before. I do like the extra cell phone battery tip though. You'll be texting alot (or missing a bunch of text messages).
Oh....BTW, I might be coming down to SB in a couple weeks with Derek. He's going to be doing that job I told you about. I'll give you a call if I do go. We'll turn State St. upside down. Still have openings in Santa Maria and Paso Robles if you know anyone in those areas. Easy work, 2 weeks long, 110 stores in each location at $15 per store. Abt 15-30mins in each store retrofitting CA Lotto displays. |
