Now here is a way to save some serious energy...wonder how much the Guv can generate every weekend...enough for it to go "off the grid" perhaps?

Power-generating dance floor hits UK club

Believe it or not, this actually isn't the first power-generating dance floor to harness some of the pent up energy of club-goers, but it is apparently the first one to hit the UK, and hopefully a sign of more to come. As you can see above, the dance floor makes use of a piezoelectric system that produces electricity as the dancers jump up and down, which charges some batteries that are used to power parts of the club. While that's certainly a practical application for the technology, we're guessing it's only a matter of time before some enterprising club owner combines one of these with an LED dance floor to create a dance floor that powers itself, and thumbs its nose at other do-gooder clubs.

| linking this into the speakers could be a great way to make DJs better - if they don't get the dancefloor moving then the power cuts out on them and they get kicked off stage. |

About time a club implements this system. Malls in Japan have had them for a couple of years now, why not clubs?
But, there is no way you could generate enough electricicty to power the sound equipment, the lighting, and all the other equipment in the club. it's a good supplemental system, but no way they could go 'off grid'. |

The average nightclub uses 150 times the amount of power that a residential house uses. Nightclubs use a lot of water as well with the toilets constantly flushing, sinks going, and dishwashers too.
In Rotterdam where the first energy-generating dance floor was created they used a sweat-capturing system that extracts moisture from the air and uses the water obtained to flush toilets. No more KH rains?? LOL
