Bioware pretty much makes great games. Even their "bad games" are top of the line compared to other games out there.
the thing is, everyone i know plays wow. |

Obviously u guys are not RPG fans, or are still stuck with the old turn based style RPG's of 15 years ago. |
MMORPGs and RPGs are two different genres.
People aren't hating on RPGs, theyre hating on MMORPGs. Not all RPGs are turn based. (hello... TES!?!) |

Bad taste is a very common thing. |

| I know plenty who play WoW...I don't understand it. Can somebody explain to me what Blizzard did that made their game so much different and special? From my perspective, its just the same with Warcraft characters. Meaning boring and repetitive as . |

Whats not to understand? Its video gaming that caters to both hardcore and casual gamer, its easy on the system, and pretty cheap if you consider the amount of playability you get to the amount you spend per year.
MMO's can actually be fun if you have time to play them. *shock* |

Well, if the game is easy to play for casuals as well, then Blizzard did do something extremely right there (the biggest complaint with MMO's is how un-user-friendly or complicated it is).
That being said, and this is my personal opinion, no game is worth a monthly fee.
...well maybe that statement is a little too absolute...but I've played so many free games in my life that paying monthly to play just one is something I just hate. |

Why is no game worth a monthly fee? Its probably more cheaper than buying a new video game every 1-3 months at retail value?
To add to this discussion, yesterday, someone asked me why I bought Madden '09 when its similar to Madden '08, my response..."Im not ing poor like you"
The real question is, why are most gamers the most poorest mother******s i've ever seen? Get a job you bunch of lazy bastards. |

You are right about saving cost, but I have a short attention span when it comes to video games. I can't dedicate myself enough to want to play a game for months on end. Of course, this is just my situation...there a lot of people out there who can get hooked on something and never stop loving it (the people I know that play WoW, etc.). With me, I'll want something new a few weeks down the line, so a monthly fee doesn't bode well with my interests.
Are there games that I come back to? Of course! But when I come back to them, its usually for a sitting or two. Not for several months. Take Counter-Strike, for example. I've been playing the damn thing off and on for over 8 years. Ridiculous amount of time to say the least, but 5 or 6 of those later years, I probably didn't play more than...oh, I'd say 20 times in the whole year. I'm not one to think that justifies a monthly fee.
Another thing that bothers me with the whole monthly fee scenario is the number of free online games out there. Every single one of the Steam products (example), once you own it, its yours and you don't pay a dime more. I know, I know, the monthly fee ensures 24/7 server tech support (as well as customer over-the-phone, etc.), plus it allows for endless expansions to be made to improve the game experience. But then, I realize, you usually have to pay for those expansions anyway, in addition to the monthly fees that you've already stacked according to however long you've been playing said game.
Could I afford to do it? Absolutely, but there are so many other alternatives out there that I easily persuade myself otherwise. |

The only MMO I play is Eve Online but that's an entirely different beast and a niche market.
As for RPGs, I prefer epic singleplayer campaigns. I don't want to grind for XP just so I can beat some other kid in PvP. |

exactly why i dont want this game to be true :(
how is it going to work in terms of going through the story and the choices you make? hopefully even though they are making this they can still continue the tale of revan and the exile in another single player game a bit later.
anyway here is an ign article on the things they would want in an online kotor:
http://au.pc.ign.com/articles/910/910963p1.html
not being a jedi is in there, but i think in the kotor games there is pretty good room for this. in the last two games you could build some pretty good blaster pistols and melee weapons, and energy shields took care of fighting against sabres. if you had high enough stats you can resist force powers too. so it shouldn't be too hard.
anyway still waiting on an "official" announcement about this game, we just have to keep waiting |

That thought makes me sick to my stomach. :(
I'm sure the Mass Effect trilogy will be great as a whole, but I'm still a bit miffed about having to pay $180 to get through it. The first game was about a third of a good RPG with two thirds filler. |
