I'm guessing you got it then. Did you get it in 15 mins? :)

Don't feel bad Jenn...I couldn't get it either. :( Haha, I guess we're not cut out to be IT people in Japan...:p |

| Once you figure out who are the first 2 to bring over, it becomes a heck of alot easier to plan the rest. Plus ive done so many similar puzzles to these ones, I have of a bit unfair advantage of kinda knowing what to do. |

i was trying to think of how to give a clue earlier and this is perfect. once you figure that out, it all makes sense. another clue: those same two people play an important role near the end too. |

That part should be obvious, since this is effectively a mirroring problem. You can follow the same set of steps in reverse and still get the same result.
So a better hint, for the people who are having trouble, is that you only actually need to solve half the problem; the rest is just the reverse of what you already did (with the genders switched obviously).
I really hope that the Japanese aren't actually giving this to IT workers as a "test" though (I sincerely doubt it). If you asked me to write an algorithm to come up with the solution, it might hold my interest (although it's a pretty mundane computing problem). But if you asked me to actually sit around in an interview and solve what's essentially just a glorified puzzle, I'd most likely conclude that you have clueless management and walk out on the spot. |
