Okay, I am not very good at reviews but ill try,
Friday night...
Friday night me and Andy decide to drive down from Boston at 11 at night, and we get to Sheila and Stevens at around 1230 where we found Pat, Steven, Tae, and a few others( sorry guys I am AWFUL with name:( ) hanging in the bar and playing some music - it was pretty sweet, the bar looks amazing! Steven showed me the new additions to the river deck and all i can say is WOW - you are one insane individual!!! all that by yourself?? ....you are a legend mate legend! .. anyways Luzz an co. show up at around 3 am and from then on there was a bunch more beers drank and a lot more choons spun, then we went down to the river at sunrise and watched Luzz eat ants " andy don't tell me I wont eat the ing ant!.... I am ing survivor man!", Luzz = Second best quote i heard all weekend
Sat " The Main Event"
Hungover. but up or it!! just chilled and grilled, set up the equipment; smoked loads of weed and just relaxed as more people showed up.... Ohh we also played frisbie and was forced to admire Hudson Doyles sculpted body that couldn't find a shirt the whole day.... :/( JK mate your the man!) then we went to the river for the ACTION.
Dj Endo:
Apart from being one of the nicest dudes i have ever met he is clearly a genius for his work with tracktor and his mixing was flawless. I Was digging what he played, even tho that is not my fav style, it was done to perfection and i enjoyed it!
Tae's Set:
What can I say mate, You are one ing incredible DJ! cut, scratches, juggles and everything in between, all while keeping the time and flow perfect. Honestly one of the best jacking and bumpin house sets i have ever heard live on vinyl. Dirty funky and bumpin!
Maxwell dubs:
Long time coming mate, but we all finally got to hear you rip it proper! Flawless programming, great transitions all while keeping that wholesome chunky house sound - not a thing that a lot of folks can achieve
Intermission: ( the generator breaking down )
This MADE the party and i will tell you why, The vibe was good before but when the generator broke down EVERYBODY was so keen to help out that there was at one point like 35 people surrounding it praying and hoping for it to kick back on. Finally when us drunk idiots located the real choke lol it kicked back to the loudest Cheer I have heard in a while ( i felt like we all just wn the lottery! only better!!!!) people were hugging each other and jumping up and down - it was very surreal and one of the biggest highlights of my night
Andy Ward:
FUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKKKK that was the best i have ever heard you play!!!!!
The Generator helped you out but thats all, you bought the A game and played so well!! your Queen Remix was so perfectly dropped and from then on you just kept the vibe so up-beat and EVERYONE was MOVING - cheers mate :)
Eli Wilkie:
After Andys unreal set I was like, " what is Eli gonna play?" he brought the duuuurty duuuurty funk and as always did so with great professionalism - he is ing eli Wilkie after all - Great tunes mate
Myself:
haha i played techno while trying to battle the plants ;) it was a hard task as some of the mixes showed lol
Dres:
Melodic, deep, hypnotizing lush grooves that had my head bobbing up and down righteously....
I cannont review this any more as this is when i blacked out and woke up the next day in my tent lol, someone else pick up after me and review the rest of the dj's please. Mr Barry was dropping heat th day before in the bar so i am in no doubt that he followed the same pattern the next night
Highlights:
Taes set, Andys set, generator breaking, Chris Luzz and the plants ants and antics! drunk kayaking, maxwell dubs set, joe mama, Eli Wilkie annnd EVERYONE THAT WAS THERE!!!!!( i am missing so many more things here that i will remember later...
Steven and Sheila:
You guys are the best and i cant say that enough!! so welcoming and hospitable, i love you guys!!
Add to this thread people it was one awesome time!

Ah so this is the review thread?? Cool
Man I'm so tireddd
MVP last year: Luzz
MVP this year: Kevin hands down
"Do u work with the plants??"
Lol :haha:
Highlights:
Best/unique/nasty dj set: TAE SEOL - I'm still convinced that no dj so far possesses skillz and presence like him. He set the tone n vibe like no one else for the entire night. :D. Best set of the WEEKEND.
A few Cool moments:
- the generator being "broken" and the loud cheer that arose WHEN it started up again
- Drew n his friend Randy's idea to lay down a trail of glow ropes from the house to the water (aka Hansel n Gretel), then tossing glowsticks to everyone by the water, turning it into a RAVEEE lol!
- a group of us sitting on the deck discussing "hmm how many crunked ppl does it take to restart a generator?" Lol!
- someone kicking a football into a tent in the middle of the field, then the tent collapsing. Those that witnessed this started cracking up uncontrollably
Silly/eep moments:
- Kevin asking everyone if they were plant workers...and Drew helping Kevin to attack the nearby tree with glowropes
- Luzz going nuts and screaming at Kevin "wtf r u talking abt?" - regarding the plant questions.
- a group of us chilling on the deck, seeing someone with a superbright flashlight come up the stairs...someone yelling,"hey wtf's with the light...then seeing TWO uniformed officers walk up :eep: We instantly r alert and VERY polite as they question us, check all our ids (they had come due to a noise complaint). They asked to see Sheila and ultimately the party was shut down at around 4am :(
- sheila and steven finding a torn shirt in the woods and us being very inquisitive/confused about
it :eep:
I'm sure others will add to this list :). F*cking awesome n successful Rhode Kill can't wait for RK3 :toothless
O yes, taso u did a kickass job on the visuals...loved them |

You guys are the best. You are the most respectful and decent people that I have ever met. Thank You for coming. The Dj's set the mood perfectly and when nightfall came, Taso's visuals turned the forrest into a wall of spinning SSU logos and trippy patterns. Hopefully the pics will capture that but you really had to be there to believe it.
Thanks so much guys. |

Thanks so much to everyone who joined us this year. It was an amazing time. I felt personally like I got to have more fun because things were slightly more organized this year. Steven added to the deck weeks in advance (gotta love the bridge!) and Tae had the sound set up on the deck by mid afternoon on Saturday, and I had most of the supply shopping done before hand. You guys were both on your A-game as hosts and it showed. Akko thanks for making the late night water run with me and not getting annoyed with me because we had to go back for my purse once we got there!:tongue2
This year, by far, the Luzz MVP award goes to -Kevin
Lyss, it turns out that the ripped shirt in the wood was his! Frankie found him wandering around with it ripped and tied around him. Rambo style...
Also the Chung Lau "Most Helpful Person" or MHP goes to- Frankie
You were a tiki filling, screen hanging, maniac. Thank you!
Erica, the cheese cake what just what I needed after the cops left. Most magical!!
Drew & Lyss, The plum wine ruled!
Lisa, My daisy made through the weekend and I laughed my butt off when I saw the Hello Kitty picture in the bar!
Randy, Thanks for the glowsticks dude! and the cozy Mets rug!
Eli, people are still talking about the steak tips and how awesome they were!
There were, as usual, many others who helped with sound, trouble shot generators, hauled water, brought beer and more, grilled or were just really entertaining. That's why this party works, the guests are always super cool, helpful and nice to be around!
Visually:
Taso, the visuals kicked the whole party up a notch. The tiny images in the trees kicked ass! Thank you.
Musically:
Thanks so much for playing all you guys. It was unbelievable having the guys who's mixes I play in the CD player CONSTANTLY, mixing it up in my back yard!!
Endo, I totally dug what you played. I'm so glad we got to hear you before you had to bolt!
Tae, I haven't heard a set like that EVER! You set the tone for the night. Incredible skills and awesome tunes!
Max, So great to finally have you play for us! Something about your style always hits me just right. Your beats are strong but the flow is mellow.
Andy, How cool are you? You seized the moment of the return of the generator by dropping the exact right beat.Your Killer Queen remix rocks! People were jumping out of their skin after that! Cheers!
Eli, I think my favorite tune of the night was your mix of James Taylor! Shower the people you love with love baby!!
Mark, You always play super cool edgy stuff. And Saturday was no exception. The visuals and you sounds made for a slightly religious experience.
Dres, I hadn't heard you before, and really was impressed with your energy. Damn, the new guy's good!
I fell apart shortly after that and had to get some rest so I missed Patrick and Luzz. But I did hear them on Friday and they were amazing!
Unfortunately, The cops arrived after 4am and I was awakened to shut it all down. Everyone was cool and I'm sorry about the early ending. Of course poor Kenneth L was putting his first disc in the CDJs.
He played an amazing afternoon set on Sunday. Thank you. It was just what the doctor ordered.
Thanks to all. xxoo
