| yea juss curious what the stats are on ISP's for the TO forums.. i'm pretty sure most people are on (scoff) Broadband .. but erm yea juss wanna get a clear picture. maybe we'll have enough people to start a riot with those bit caps?? |

I have sympatico... it sucks now with the byte cap... even before the cap, it was slow
I had rogers, they were faster, when they worked. |

Yeah with sympatico... I have a feeling my bill is going to sky rocket very soon!!
Isn't there any alternative? Like switch to another ISP??? |

I just ordered my DSL modem and I'm switching to www.aei.ca . There's another decent isp www.istop.com but they have a 20G cap (good for anyone but us warezheads).
There's lots of choice of DSL isps in Ontario, just pick the computer paper and check for the ads... |

I'm on Rogers, and while it is currently tolerable (even with the downtimes it kept on having in the past) there's no way I'd consider sticking around when they begin to place caps and price hikes.
We should come up with a list of reasonable alternatives when these corporate cable and dsl giants make that final transition towards screwing their customers (i.e. stupid d/l u/l caps and raising prices).. I'm looking at dsl.ca because it is available in my area.. there are a few others I had but the names skip my mind at the moment.. |

does anyone here know whether it's possible to get DSL access in ur area if there's a DSL blackout for Sympatico .. ?
i'm in that situation .. Rogers is soooo slow here cuz there's no DSL access thru Sympatico (i don't think there's a central office nearby or something) so therefore everyone ends up on cable and it makes it piss slow .. :[ |

If Sympatico can't give access, no one will be able to :( You'll have to find a company that gives other xDsl services like sdsl, vdsl, etc... but that doesn't come cheap either...
i.e. you're stuck with rogers |

dammit .. ! that means that i'm in an xDSL blackzone .. and i know i can't get vDSL that's usually only offered in apartment buildings (new ones mind you)..
anywyas .. is anyone else here in a similar situation with this crap?? |
