Goodbye Dance Clubs, Hello Lexington Project
Tuesday, July 22, 2008, by Dakota

Proposed for 6677 Santa Monica Boulevard, The Lexington, first mentioned last fall, is a 786-unit, mixed use project that would rise on the site of the former Circus Disco and Arena. Also, this area is a huge tranny hang-out. You get lost, trannies! And while some parts of this look quite familiar--hullo two-tone desert hues--there is a planned walkable alley part of this project that is supposed to attractive. UPDATED

Listed on city's planning department web site as going through its Environmental Impact Report phase, there will be "approximately 22,200 square feet of community-serving retail and restaurant space" in addition to the condos.

More: "The residential uses would be located within six buildings ranging from five to six stories in height and would include open space and recreational amenities."

"The community-serving retail and restaurant uses would be located on the ground level along the Santa Monica Boulevard frontage. Additionally, a three level parking facility, providing approximately 1,612 spaces within two subterranean levels and one ground level, would be located below the residential uses. To accommodate the proposed project, existing structures on the site would be removed."

i'm sorry to hear that Red! and i'm really sorry to see Circus go, if that is what is going to happen. i started my clubbing there 4 years ago and went there almost every weekend to dance, see great djs, spend time with friends, get great hugs and laugh all night. it's hard to see it leave but after spundae left and Red bagan having to deal with hip hop in the main room i just never went back. i wanted to keep the memory of what Circus was in my mind and not be crushed by what it had become.

Much luck to the Red crew!!!

ummmm... the Hip-hop in the mainroom (4/12) didn't even last 5-6 weeks!

Circus is getting demolished?
But I'm thinking I heard this so many times and it's still standing?
