You used to be able to in their virginal version when I used it. Don't think you can now though, due to more sophisticated protection. |

Guess so... I'll never forget the disappointment I felt when I bought Snoop Dogg - Sexual Eruption (my first ever iTunes purchase evar) just to cut out the strings and remix it... but it wouldn't let me. :( |

Gay. I just downloaded iTunes just to see. The "Convert to AAC" used to say "Convert to..." and the ... would change to AAC or MP3 depending on what file you had selected. How ing gay. |

If you were desperately needing empee3, could you not just buy a sound editor like Cool Edit/Soundforge for pennies, play the track on iTunes through your computer and record the sound out into a track on CE/SF?
That way you could then save it as a .wav file and then do the conversion to mp3. Bit of a long-winded method, but that sounds like it could work. |

why are u guys using itunes to do anything else but transfer music to the ipod? Use a converter program if u need to change formats and edit tracks. Itunes favors the music companies and their own purchasing site. If u refuse to use itunes to transfer your data, then use this one. No syncing BS, and best of all no protection crap to worry about and u can hook up your ipod or any other ipod to your computer and pull off/put on what u want. Its freeware as well.

| Well if you want it to work on mp3 players that only play mp3 (obviously ) go mp3 but otherwise I'd probably go for AAC-HE2+ although finding a program that will actually convert your wav files to that format will probably be a little hard. I mostly rip everything in wma lossless now so this doesn't affect me. |

You can use pretty much any media player now to do it. WMP, Winamp, Songbird, just to name a few. |

FLAC ftw. |
FLAC is great. Not all programs can do video file transfers while that one does mate. |

| Indeed it is but adobe audition doesn't support it and wma lossless is pretty much the same. |

Well I am sure as it gains popularity (Trent Reznor seems to like it as their latest album was released in both FLAC and FLAC-HD. I am sure others will follow suit) that will change. |
