Why don't more pro-lifers kill abortion doctors?

The strictest pro-life position says that the abortion of a fetus is morally equivalent to the murder of an adult human being, so we ought to outlaw all abortions. But what happens if we take the premise ("abortion is murder") for granted and draw out some of its implications?
I'd wager that most people, including pro-lifers, believe that it's a good thing to try to stop a murderer from killing any more innocent people. Probably most people agree that you should use as much force as possible in order to stop a murderer, even up to lethal force if that becomes necessary. Further, if the police for some reason refused to stop a murderer from continuing his killing spree, most people would probably be okay with somebody taking matters into his own hands and preventing the murderer from killing any more innocent people, and in fact they might even praise such a "vigilante" if he ended up saving lives.
Now, in the eyes of a strict pro-lifer, an abortion doctor is morally equivalent to such a murderer on a killing spree; he is "murdering" the unborn and will continue to do so as long as he is allowed. The police, however, refuse to stop the abortion doctor from "murdering" fetuses, because such "murder" is currently legal.
The pro-lifers claim that the unborn are just as worthy of protection as any adult. And yet they do not defend the unborn as they would defend an adult; they do not use physical force to stop the abortion doctor from continuing his "killing spree" and "murdering" more innocent unborn children; and if someone does use such force to stop the "killing spree" of an abortion doctor by shooting him, the vast majority of pro-lifers condemn such a "vigilante" as an "extremist" and disavow him.
To sum up -- if pro-lifers believe the following things:
(1) Abortion is the murder of a human being who deserves just as much protection as any adult.
(2) Murderers ought to be stopped from murdering as quickly as possible, even if that means using deadly force.
(3) If legal authorities refuse to stop a murderer from killing or refuse to recognize his killings as "murder," then private citizens ought to take matters into their own hands and stop him.
Then the most logical conclusion is this:
(C) Since the proper authorities will not act to stop the murder of the unborn, private citizens ought to take matters into their own hands and stop it, even if that means killing the murderers (abortion doctors).
In other words, the fact that most pro-lifers aren't out there gunning down abortionists means that either (a) they don't really believe that abortion is morally equivalent to murder or (b) they're too cowardly to try and stop what they view as the "murder" of the unborn using the most immediately effective method.

because they are the heroes that Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt them, because they can take it. Because they are not heroes. They are the silent guardians, the watchful protectors, the dark knights. |

Although it's the doctor's themselves that carry out the termination, where does the potential mother fit into all this? The one that would ultimately make the decision to have the child terminated in the first instance.
Then again, pro-lifers couldn't kill the mother, that would just defeat the purpose of their existence, so next port of call would be the doctor murder, but to relate it back to your point, I'd say (b). |

In the pro-life view, she would be morally equivalent to someone hiring a contract killer, is my guess. |

A lot of pro-life people would probably be opposed to killing a murderer. And believe that human life - regardless of how much of a scumbag the human is - should be protected at all costs.
There are others who feel differently and who would have no qualms about seeing an abortion "doctor" killed. It has been known to happen, although the people who would support such action would greatly outnumber those prepared to carry it out. |

Okay, then why not confine the abortionist?
Or cut off his hands and throw them into a wood-chipper, to prevent him from doing any more abortions? |

Because you'll end up going to jail for a long time. Personally I think they should have their heads removed, but I wouldn't be the one to do it. Similarly with someone who has killed a born person. |
