Firefox seems to hate YouTube

Anytime I open up a video on YouTube, it plays to the 2 second mark, and then freezes. I can play the videos no problem with Internet Explorer, but Firefox hates me.

I recently updated Firefox, which is when I discovered this issue.

Anyone else having this problem? How do I fix it?

/frustrated

Oh, and if this is a repost, sorry.

woah... glad im not the only one with this problem... usually it happens to me though if ive been running hdmi output with some crazy hd video content and changed my speaker output from the laptop speakers to the tv and back and forth... so i always kinda thought it was that that was ing everything up but now i guess not.

but it doesnt always do it for me... only sometimes, usually when my my laptops been on for quite some time.

also firefox has also been "not responding" quite frequently... itll be "not responding" for a minute then come back all of a sudden... quite annoying when i just hit "reply" on ta and it does that... theres no need.

maybe i should update to firefox 3... currently running firefox 2.0.0.16 on vista :/

edit: and its not just youtube... all online video thingys do the same ... 2 seconds, freeze, and then itll literally take 3-5 seconds to play one more second of the video.

same here both on mac os 10.5 and windows Xp

I find that it seems to happen when there are a lot of windows opened but haven't fully figured that one out.

And I've had this happen on flock on windows xp, and opera on mac
montana
for me, this only happens if i have another tab/window open that has an imbedded youtube clip in

Same here... started happening with Firefox 3 once I had lots of windows open.. they fixed the memory leaks but it seems this issue keeps happening -- if I quit out of firefox and reload it then I have no issues.

It just gets annoying to jump into IE whenever I need to watch a youtube video quick and I don't feel like quitting Firefox and saving current window state/reloading firefox/reloading all windows/tabs.

did a bit of googling

here they seem to share the idea of either downgrading Flash or upgrading to the most recent, and something about disabling java.

if i close firefox and reopen it itll still happen to me... the only thing that fixes it is a reboot of my laptop.
