Hi people. If there are any pro/semi-pro DJs or people involved in the industry, could please give me some insight on what it takes to get into being a club DJ?
Also, if anyone knows of any good/decently priced DJ stores in melbourne or Australian websites, could you please pass them along aswell. Preferably somewhere that sells technics and pioneer gear.
Thanks in advance guys. |

I dont know that much.. but check out DMC Records in Commercial rd (off chapel). They have alotta equipment and u can bargain them down a bit.. good record collection there as well. As for getting a name for yourself.. make a mix and make a heapa copies of it on cd, then just ask cd/vinyl stores to play it in the shop.. give it to the owners of trendy cafes to play, if it's a good cd and they people like it, it can start you off with a bit of a reputation.

these is a DJ shop out at Eastland on the main roadthat runs infront of the train station.. cant rember the name,, they do lessons and sell second hand stuff there,, good prices too..
As for breaking into the scene i suggest going to Centrals and other record stores as Dj's work there and ask them how to get a spot.. also there was a club in melb where u send them a tape and if ur good enough they will give u a 1 hr slot... |

Probably the best prices in Melbourne (don't quote me on that) can be found at Factory Sound http://www.factorysound.com
They have a big sale once a year, it is definitely worth checking them out. |

Factory Sound Sale 2002 is expected to be bigger than our previous year's sales, so we have taken on board lessons learnt from 2000 and 2001 to make it a better experience for all our customers. As we don't want anyone missing out on any of the bargains available on the day, we have taken steps to further streamline our registration procedure (it really pays to preregister - www.factorysound.com), check-out and auctions. Furthermore, we have hired extra staff to assist in the overall running of the event, so every one of our customers will be able to take advantage of the (even bigger) range of products on sale for ridiculously low prices.
Don't forget on the day there will be live entertainment, food and drinks, product demos and everybody's favourite, the bidding for no-reserve auctions. As mentioned earlier, 2002 will be bigger than ever and we look forward to seeing you all in at the Factory to take advantage of the exceptional bargains.
