Comicon...

as far as i know Comicon is still the biggest convention in all of the U.S. and by far some of the funniest things i've ever seen in san diego have happened from the people who attend.

however this story is thread worthy (i hope).

so its 6am and i'm driving around downtown looking for this building. i can't find it anywhere its super early and i'd much rather be back in bed but duty calls. As i'm driving up 5th ave i see two guys dressed in robes:

now they were holding 7-9ft wooden bows... running as fast as they can down the street.

so already i'm like.. .:wtf: but moving on 2 blocks up the road at the next light there is a guy dressed head to toe like darth vader:

now he is sprinting down the street running so fast that his helmet won't stop shaking from side to side, there is no possible way he could see where he was going... however he was still chasing the guys with robes yelling 'I AM YOUR FATHER, GET BACK HERE!'

anyone else seen some ridiculous stuff at comicon before?

It wasn't Comicon, it was at the Star Wars Convention they had at LA Convention center last year or whenever, my gf still has some of the original 80s toys in their original packaging so when it came to LA we had to go, grumble...

Anyway, if any of you remember the Conan O'Brian episode where Triumph the Insult Comic Dog was ripping on people waiting in line for Star Wars 2, there's a part where he finds a girl in the audience and asks, is anyone here brave enough to satisfy this girl, and this little nerdy guy w/ a peach fuzz moustache steps up wearing his jedi robe and plastic light saber and says "I can", well I saw that guy at the Star Wars convention just walking around.

Not as funny as seeing what you saw but that cracked me up seeing that dude in person. I was tempted to ask him are you the guy Triumph cracked on, but refrained.

I didn't see anything quite as funny as your story... that would've been awesome to see! I work downtown so I've been witnessing the commotion firsthand. On my breaks I usually walk down to the convention center to people watch and talk to the chicks handing out flyers.
I've seen a ton of Jokers this year, a few groups of Klingons, a gang of tiny asian anime chicks, and more ball hugging spandex then I care to admit! Notables: some ninja turtles skipping down the street, a ginger cobra commander, and a guy dressed as death that literally took 15 mins to open a power bar because he refused to take his skeleton gloves off.

I caught a movie at Horton Plaza last night. I was eating some asian food and saw two women dressed as Wonder Woman walk by. Interesting....

I was at Tinfish outside sipping on beers watching the show filling the streets yesterday. Entertaining as always!

;)

I did catch a live version of Mystery Science Theater doing "Plan 9 From Outer Space" at the Balboa Theater downtown last night. So much fun.
