I am headed to paris for 2 weeks on business, but I will have one weekend free to do whatever, and was wondering if anyone who has been there before could reccomend a good club for house / techno..
RA's top 100 list only had Rex Club on there, and the TA's in the France forum recommended it as well for techno, but when I checked Rex Club's site they say they are closed for all of august.. :(
I've been looking around and have a couple ideas, but am really not sure where I want to go..
Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks :D |

| There's a club called La Scalla that's had some cool events. I went there when i was in Paris last year and it sucked large.. but it was a cheese dance music night. |

| From what I've been reading a lot of their clubs are inconsistent with their music like that.. I've looked at clubs listing way too many different styles all in one night, but I can't figure out if it is all different rooms or if they really just love to mix it up.. Too many listing their hip-hop / house on their flyers as well lol. |

| Check out catching an SNCF train down to the south of France. It should only take you a few hours, and it wouldn't cost you that much. There are tons of events that go on (especially in Cannes) during the summer. It would be completely feasible to take a train to Cannes, party all night, and take another train back in the morning. |

Was just there in June, and the nightlife was mediocre at best.
Saw Dave Clarke and Ellen Allien though at The Rex.
Batofar was another disco that was good. Both clubs had techno dj's which was perfect to my likings. If you're looking for house or trance you may not find it there. Mainly techno and minimal. Clubs turned the lights on and shut down by 5, which left me with large pupils and no place to go but my small hotel room to watch CNN for two hours. |

There was a club called 'Jester' (or something) on the Champs d'Elysee right by the Arc d'triomph...was alright - not great.
It was housey, but a little europop. |

Never been to Paris, but Respect is Burning do a weekly Wednesday party on the Seine River on the Concorde Atlantique boat. Line up is pretty good.

Just got back from Paris few weeks ago. Yeah, music nights there are not the greatest. Check out the Rex (which is their biggest club); Batofar is a nice boat on the seine with some good tunes (look for parties by Miss Tique - always good lineup!); Nix Nox is another boat on the Seine with good tunes. Also, once in a while they have events at Parc de La Villette (got to see Rickardo Villalobos there) - huge venue with enormous amount of people- special events only.
Hope that helps. |

A lot of recommendations for the Rex in Paris, which is the same feed back I got on the French TA forum.. Sucks that it will be closed for all of August..
On the plus side, it sounds like the scene is big into techno / minimal which is what I would most like to hear right now. :)
Strongly considering jumping on a train Saturday afternoon and hitting a party in the south, and then back in the morning.
Thanks for all the advice guys, I got a much better response than I did on the FRTA forums. :D |
