I'm totally blown away what just happened 12 hours ago, it reminds me how I meet amazing people in the most craziest ways in dance music and its culture!
So my start to online nerd mode, began very early and by that moment I was already rocking dance moves at San Francisco parties just by being a total partier before my whole resident dj/promoter days. Since I was connected to the world, I wanted to see what was going on elsewhere so the first social environment I discovered was mIRC and somehow I found myself on #rave chatroom on dalnet. I met a lot of interesting people from all over the world, through this relay; many I still hang out with to this very day, others I still talk to, but never met. Fortunately we remained what some people may refer to as natural pen-pals. So there was this guy named Adam that obviously had an alias, but till yesterday I always knew him as the raver kid from Toronto, I've been chatting to for over a decade. An amazing person to have conversations with, since we both have so much love and heart for the dance culture, so recently he IMs me, following up if I've been listening to any of his tracks and I respond with "I'm not sure which tracks have you released recently" so he sends me his myspace page and emails me a few tracks and my eyes totally bugged from my restless zombie mind and I'm like "are you serious, dood you're Adam K" Yes! Adam K and Soha. I'm so boggled that this is the same guy that helped produce the track "Twilight". If you're not familiar with it look it up, almost every major artist rocked that track everywhere the past 2 years. Until recently I had no idea it was the same person. The conversation continued on the phone for hours and I can't wait to bring this artist out to San Francisco for all of you. It will happen somehow =) |

haha nice! I used to idle in irc (not the same channel/server) long ago but now I turn off my PC at home to save power. Rarely startup mIRC nowadays.
Was good seeing you last night at Booka Shade too :) |

Ya dance floor had a good amount of room which was nice for me :D I was surprised how many people I knew that never came to Mezzanine before and that was their first time there :o
I went on efnet at one point but was more for quake and music video (only way to see euro videos before youtube) channels... used to do #gdjb and #asot but i dont even recall what server that was on. I know its changed recently too and since I rarely listen to those shows nowadays I don't keep up with the changes. I'll sometimes go to J00Fs GTG channel/server when I remember its being broadcast |

my iphone is jailbroken and hacked and i have a bsd subystem installed and a bitchx client so i can irc on the go :wtf:
admittedly though i'm not even remotely close to as active as i was several years ago
i was even a packet and icmp kiddie in a takeover group in the late 90's
-- taking over #napster was fun...he was so pissed off, such a whiner.
we used to mock him about his napster 97 program, which i have laying around somewhere, and its advertising banner that was getting no love, because DCC bots and ratio FTPs were the main source of mp3s.
guess he got the last laugh ;) |
