I've noticed on Facebook the amount of multiple invites from people is getting out of hand. I have literally been getting up to 5-10 separate invites for ONE event, and I think it's simply because people don't know how to use the 'friends' application. Below I have included a step by step tutorial on how it can be properly utilized.
1.) Click on the 'Friends' tab on your profile

2.) Click on 'Make a New List'

3.) Choose a name for your mailing list.

4.) I chose 'EVENTS' as my list name

__________________________________________________________________________________________
5.) Click on 'Select Multiple Friends'

__________________________________________________________________________________________
6.) Click on 'View All'

__________________________________________________________________________________________
7.) Begin clicking on each friend you want included on your mailing list

__________________________________________________________________________________________
8.) Click on 'Save List'

__________________________________________________________________________________________
9.) Click on the event link you wish to invite your list to, then click 'Invite People to Come'

__________________________________________________________________________________________
10.) Scroll to the very bottom of your friends list on the right side, to find your custom friends group. Click the box to invite.

Please note that you may only have 999 friends per friends group. Once you reach that number, create a second group and add future friends to that one. The event you use must be created by someone other than yourself, otherwise you will only be able to invite groups of 100 at a time.
Hopefully people start using this tool when inviting people to events. Not only will it prevent unnecessary spam, but it will also make events more effective. More invites in one event = better impact.

Yes, you can.
You just can't be the creator or an admin for the event you are inviting your friends to.
For a club or promotions team to be the most effective this is your best method. Create the events from a 'fan page' for the club/company. Once it is created, pass it along to all involved in the event. Everyone then forwards the invite in the way I explained above. If you want to personalize the message, you can do so by writing something in the message box (ie - hit me back for guestlist, or i'm selling tickets - you can reach me at 555-5555, etc.) |
